My username was just a generic username I had from a job at the time when I first registered. It was fairly nondescript and also contained fractions of my real name, which I started to get uncomfortable with.
When I bought a horse, a large life change, I decided to use her name as my user name. As she died suddenly in 2004, mu username is now her memorial. If my horse could have typed, she would have loved the Straight Dope (for a horse, she was a know-it-all of epic proportions).
Long ago I used to be Ryan Mahoney, and actually still am IRL, but it was so long ago that it’s almost of no matter.
