Left Hand of Dorkness gave you an excellent answer, but I’ll add: it was more than a little disingenuous of you to leave out the fact that PACs have NO limitation on the amount they may spend. Yeah, so long as they “don’t coordinate” with a candidate or party. Depending on that provision to be rigorously enforced would seem to be rather foolhardy.
Our current state of affairs post-*Citizens United v. FEC *is that those with the gold make the rules, so to speak, via their “speech” in the form of as many millions of dollars as they need to spend in order to effectively drown out dissent. Many of us see that as something short of ideal.

I’m over a week late to the party, but I’ve just been watching some excerpts on YouTube. When Elizabeth Warren addressed the DNC she seemed to get relatively little applause but was heckled with “We trusted you … We trusted you …”
I thought the convention hall was mostly filled with delegates. What gives? Were some fifth-graders admitted on a school field trip?
It was a small contingent of bitter Sanders delegates, largely from California according to the news shows I watched. They heckled/chanted during several of the speeches throughout the week. You would often hear the rest of the delegates over-shout them with “Hillary! Hillary!”
Sheeeesh. Trump is back up to 24% chance; we’re hardly out of the woods yet.
The bitter angry aging white man is a dying demographic. So it would be a tragic shame if Trump were elected by some insipid Bernie-crazed Millennial brats.
