The Devil Made Me Do It

I’m thinking of buying ( actually have decided to buy ) an expensive replica sword, something I have zero use for other than as decoration.

Worse, I’ll probably end up buying multiple ones.

Lingerie. Victoria’s Secret has an after clearance clearance sale twice a year, and I am there waiting for them at 10 AM sharp to open. I already have way more silk/lace teddie, slips, etc. than I need, but not as many as I want.

I noticed last time I got more see-through nighties than silk/lace combos, but that reflected what they had available. However, I then discovered I like see-through.

At this point, I could probably wear a different outfit to sleep in every night for two months. So do I need anymore? There’s no conceivable way for me to justify it.

But, their January clearance sale is coming up and then the after clearance clearance sale happens and yet again I will be there.

LOL Not only will I be there… we have two Victoria’s Secrets and I hit them both that morning. I even go to both stores the day before to see who has the better selection so I can go to that store first the next morning.

It use to be NASCAR diecast but I realized after collecting over 2000 of them, I don’t have the room to store them much less display them. Of course now that I decide to sell a bunch of them on eBay the bottom has fallen out of the market for them. Some pieces I paid a premium for a few years ago did not draw one bid on eBay. My latest collection that I have begun expanding on is Monopoly game tokens. I have been able to pick up a bunch on eBay but some of the highly desirable pieces require buying the whole game. I now have over 100 unique tokens and 12 different versions of Monopoly. And I’m getting the Seattle version tomorrow for Christmas. Get to add the Space Needle to my collection.

I refuse to believe this without out photographic evidence! Much photographic evidence.

(post party) Post number 3,000 yea me.

Right now, it’s geek toys. I just got an iPod, a laptop and a shortwave radio for graduation. I only bought the iPod, but the laptop and radio were gifts.

However, what makes this a problem is that I’m buying all the ancillary stuff, too. I need a better Wi-Fi card. I need guidebooks to find the right broadcasts, and depending on the reception I get, will probably need an outside antenna, too.

Someone save me from this!

Robin

Books, books, books. I set myself a target of 40 new books a year and I’m starting #39 now! I suspect, though, 2006 is going to be the year of the hat fetish.

mm

As predicted I got lots of books for Christmas AND 110 dollars worth of book gift cards. Woohoo! I do loves me my books.

You and I share the book addiction. My stepson moved out a month ago and I have already pounced on his room with announcements of turning it into a library.

Prostitutes.

Every day I tell myself, “Otto, this is the day you are not going to buy any more prostitutes!” But then I find myself in my car, driving down Hooker Alley. “I’m just looking!” I tell myself. “I’m just curious, that doesn’t mean I have to buy any new prostitutes!” Then, of course, I see the new prostitute, and it’s a new style or a color I haven’t seen before, and I just have to have it. I tell ya, when it comes to prostitutes, I have no will power.

Oh, and wrapping paper.

The nice part about shortwave is that you can make an antenna out of a length of wire. For a 1/2 wave antenna, your length in feet is equal to 468 divided by the desired frequency in megahertz.

I’m guilty of those things already mentioned: books, music, tools, and office stuff.

Hey, I’m not Paris Hilton. Guy gets out a camera  when I’m dressed in, well, some of the items I have, and it’s not gonna be happenin’

Congrats on the 3000 posts!!

I’m another book addict. Even if I never bought another volume, I won’t live long enough to read all the books I own but haven’t got around to reading yet.

[unrelated aside: do you ever scroll fast up or down within a thread, and a word combination jumps out at you - and you have to go back to see what it was? “Dances with Prostitutes”. I thought it was a username, but it was DancesWithCats combined with the above post. Okay, it was funny to me, tho.]

Books, books, books, 99% yet unread. When my bookcases are all full I clear out a couple hundred unread books and give them to libraries, then buy more new ones to fill up the empty space.

Been there, recovered fabriholic. I have so much unwashed, folded designer quilt fabric, batiks, and hand-dyeds, that they fill a closet, even organized and stored tightly in boxes. It’s on a second storey, and I’m seriously afraid that the weight of it all will come crashing down someday. I don’t expect to quilt anymore - had my fill after 11 years - but I can’t seem to find a way to dispense with the fabric any good way. Any ideas, dangermom?

DVDs. I must have more to add to my bookshelf full (not a shelf, an entire shelving unit), alphabetized by title.

Books. I must have more to add to my many bookshelves full, organized by subject and author.

Guns. I just like collecting old guns.

That’s the exact rationalization I use. I change into jammies the moment I get home from anywhere. But I could probably wear a different set every day for a month.
