Please, if we can’t tell what you wrote and what you are quoting you have failed. A link to your sources is pretty standard in any forum, without it you appear to be cherry picking quotes or taking things out of context.
We’ve been around for a while now and this is not USENET. As the new guy it’s up to you to adjust to our standards, not the other way around. Capeesh?
Don’t be so sure. Connecticut recently passed new gun control measures and the public overwhelmingly supports background checks and limits on magazine capacity, despite resistance from a single issue political action group that makes money off their members’ paranoia.
Other issues where we’re less permissive- well there’s the whole Patriot Act business, which I oppose but the public isn’t up in arms about. We’ve gotten more strict on public safety things like less tolerance for drunk driving and texting while driving. We’re letting environmental restrictions come in play without argument, no more 75 watt bulbs, other incandescents will follow suit at some time. Restrictions on smoking are becoming more, not less common.
Even one of your cornerstones, low taxes, isn’t quite as universal as you might think. It isn’t unusual for voters to willingly raise their property taxes for schools. My own state of Michigan, with a Republican governor and legislature, effectively raised taxes (for seniors no less) by eliminating the tax exemption for pensions and sharply cutting back on the property tax credit.
This isn’t USENET, and this entire message board isn’t about to change just because you want to be a dinosaur. Capice?
Nudge, nudge. 2 posts up from yours.
Still, great minds and all, right? ![]()
I’m not sure whether I get bonus point for misspelling the last word the same way he/she did or you get points for spelling it correctly. We’ll call it a draw. ;)![]()
Czarcasm,
You give yourself away. When you have to fall back on ad hominem, you have lost the
argument. Any argument. Capeesh?
Cheers, Singanas
And if you had provided an argument, any argument, your point might be relevant.
“The humor and the brilliance”?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahha … oh god, you’re killing me!
Sir, I remember USENET well. I debated on USENET. USENET was a friend of mine. And your posting technique would have been ridiculed on USENET as well.
Stand up and defend your words, or sit down and shut up.
What’s to argue with yet? Show us what you’ve got-it’s your topic.
