I’ve been wanting to see it for a couple years. It’s airing tonight on FXM.
I was a big fan of the tv show.

It’s nothing like the tv show.
No ad in the paper offering to help people in trouble.
Robert McCall operated more as a real agent. Getting dossiers on the people he went up against. He had a team to help him.
Movie guy McCall is a lone wolf assassin. So far he hasn’t done any intelligence work on the group he’s opposing.
I liked that show a lot, too. I liked a hero who used age and guile to kick the ass(es) of youth and exuberance. I was disappointed it didn’t catch on.
It’s sort of a modern prequel.
It was pretty good. The big shoot out scene was too dark. I couldn’t see very much details. Just murky figures moving around.
The best line in the film was delivered by Susan the CIA Officer. “Robert didn’t come asking for help. He wanted permission.” That’s pretty bad ass. LOL
I’ll probably watch the sequel this Sept in the theatre. Or perhaps when it’s released on DVD.
Honestly, the tv version was better. McCall often found solutions that didn’t require killing everyone.
