I just stumbled across the pilot episode of The Equalizer on UHD (Universal HD). I LOVED this show back then and I love it now. McCall is a badass among badasses taking out scumbags in his Jag. And, of course, Steward Copeland did the music.
The episode includes a young(er) Jerry Stiller and a young(er) David Proval (aka Richie Aprile on the Sopranos)
It used to play pretty regularly on… A&E? Edward Woodward kicked major ass and it was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. Stewart Copeland’s theme music is among my favorites.
One my fave shows at the time it was on. Probably a few too many “victim calls for help/does
something stupid to put him/herself into mortal danger/McCall saves the day at the last
moment” kind of plots, but there were some good ones (like the bank robbery, or the ones
involving his long-lost daughter).
One of the “benefits” of Dish Network is that some channel I don’t wan’t or need will suddenly show up unexpectadly. Such is the Mystery channel. Now I can watch all the Simon & Simon, Magnum and Equalizer I can stomach.
That turned out to be 3 hours. One episode each. Man, these have not stood the test of time. Utter crap.
