I don’t think Eve and I have ever spoken, but I always find myself drawn to her posts because she gives such good advice. When I found out she was a New Yorker, that clinched it. I pictured her as one of those Upper East Side women who are always perfectly polished and put together, and who spends her evenings having dinner, wine, and coffee with friends in cafes discussing arts, music, and film. If I’d stayed in NYC, Eve was the kind of woman I’d want to be.
And after seeing a picture of her, I still don’t think I’m very far off from the above description.

If someone offered me a glass of 97% Dom Perignon 1953 and 3% cyanide, I’d take my chances and drink it. Sometimes it’s hard to spit out the cyanide, though.

I finally found this thread (I usually don’t read MPSIMS, but someone mentioned an Eve appreciation thread elsewhere and didn’t provide a link…grrr…), and before I managed to read all the posts singing Eve’s praises she’s back! I’m so happy!
Literally just minutes ago I was talking to a friend in the hallway and told her all about Eve and how upset I was thinking that she might have left the SDMB forever. I returned to my computer only to find that the lady Eve has returned to us once more. Huzzah!
Eve, you’re the greatest. I have nothing but the highest regard for you, and I hope that someday I will have the opportunity to meet you so I can tell you so in person.

I gotta say, Eve, I’m amazed by and jealous of your grace and dignity. I was shocked literally to tears when I realized just what was said to you, and when I read your response I thought “Holy crap … if someone insulted me like that there’s no way I’d have the strength to reply so calmly.”
You don’t know me or anything, but I’m really glad you’re back. If you’re ever in my neck of the woods, I’ll take ya out for coffee (probably with a stack of books, a pen, and a pleadingly autograph-hunting look ).
Thanks for coming back Eve, you are not only loved but you are downright needed around here, and that has nothing to do with what body you were born into in my mind, just everything to do with who you are and what you give to this community.

I’m starting to get a little bit concerned.
As near as I can tell, Eve hasn’t posted since Thursday night in that thread in which she took undeserved abuse.
If it turns out that the likes of Jersey_Diamond, Joe Cool, and His4Ever keep posting here and Eve doesn’t, I am going to be truly disappointed.
If that turns out to be representative of the collective prefence of board members, I’ll stop visiting altogether.
