"The Event" is still sitting on my DVR ... any good reason to watch it?

I bothered to finish Caprica even after I knew it was cancelled, because I actually enjoyed it. Same with V, which I was only lukewarm about.

I have invested virtually nothing in The Event and am happy to skip it completely unless anyone can suggest that there’s good stuff worth watching therein.

Thoughts?

Not worth it.

No.

My first reaction was no since the show left so many plot elements unresolved. However, I just read this and maybe you can wait until a decision is made about a wrap-up movie or something that will resolve the loose ends.

Thanks! That’s enough justification for me to keep it around for a while.

And set up a Google Alert for “the event movie.”

God help me, if they ended up making a movie wrapping up the 12,639 various loose-ends and plot points that ended up going nowhere, I don’t think I could force myself to stay away.

There was SO much about the show that was absolutely insulting to it’s viewers’ intelligence, and parts that were so bad they literally made me cringe in embarrassment, but overall it was strangely compelling, and truth be told, The Event had a wierdo sway over me and my Monday-night viewing habits…

Nope. I actually think the first two or three epispode were good, but then it just kind of went ape shit crazy and lost steam. I stopped watching a few episodes before it ended and I have no desire to even find out what happened in the last episode.

I have not seen it, though I have asked around to those that have.

Overwhelmingly, the response has been “forget it”.

So much potential and hype for that show, and then 2 or 3 episodes in I couldn’t take it any more.

Gee, I liked it. There were some inexcusable science gaps, but in general it was taut and compelling. Good suspense, generally good action.

They tied up everything in the season finale, and then, one second later, opened up a new cliffhanger that was so absurdly over the top I actually laughed out loud at it, but it didn’t matter because by then I knew the show had been cancelled. And I had to admire it for its audacity.

So my advice, Knead, is just watch it, and don’t worry about whether there will be a wrap-up movie or not.

Not really. It’s a clone of Lost, in a way, and I quit watching that after five episodes.

I gave up about midway through the second episode and had forgotten about the series until this thread, but I just checked wiki to find out what you’re referring to and I laughed out loud as well.

I really want to say yes. And, having watched the whole thing, I’m invested enough to watch whatever medium they end up using to resolve the cliffhanger.

But, certain things, notably the severe “heel faced turn” of two characters were very annoying. There were other great aspects that are worth watching. The series starts out great, and I think the finale was pretty good. They sure liked “what a tweeeeest!” in some cases brilliant and in some cases dumb.

Final verdict: uneven. If it gets a resolution that is decent I’d say yes. If the resolution stays in limbo or is dumb, then no. So: wait and see.

ETA: ambiguously Asian agent is hot. And has a shirtless episode. Might be worth it.

Well, shit, call me crazy but I think this show would be good for three or four seasons on Syfy. Does this show not have a big enough following to turn a profit?

No. Do not watch.
