The Expanse; season 3 (open spoilers)

Why do you assume there is an “ending”? And even if there is, what evidence do you have that we’re anywhere near it?

Because there has to be an ending because physics. There is a limit to the strenght of atomic bonds, for one, putting limits on materials strenghts and on melting temperatures. And the evidence is that real scientists understand that physics.

What kind of material strength and melting temperatures are necessary to allow reentry at, say, 300 mph? As noted, the Roci isn’t entering the atmosphere at orbital speeds.

I don’t mind Holden being a do-gooder, especially as it seems to help drive the plot along. What I dislike is EVERYONE on the damn show acting circles around Strait while he either squints and stage whispers wooden lines in a wannabe dramatic fashion or stares stupidly with his mouth open. Seriously, I expect to see drool anytime now.

Can we start a petition to have him traded to Mars for Bobbie?

I don’t mind him. I think there are a lot of times that he gets things right and very few where begets them wrong. I don’t disagree that he is among the most limited actors in the cast, but I don’t find it a hindrance to my enjoyment of the show.

Holden’s shtick gets old in the books. It’s not that he’s so much dislikeable as just bland and annoying. And I think he’s supposed to be that way as a foil for the other, far more interesting characters.

So Strait’s portrayal of Holden fits right in. He’s not my favorite character, and whether because it’s the character or his acting, it ends up the same for me.

Amazon announced today that they’ve picked up The Expanse for a fifth season. They must feel pretty good about the upcoming fourth.

Good news, everyone!

I don’t know if this was touched upon, but the first episode of the third season has the crew of the Rocinante trying to clean the entire ship of the protomolecule infestation, and missing a strand of it under a floorpanel.

I believe in one of the following episodes, there’s another shot of it showing the audience that it’s still there.

1- Given how agressive the fucker was in all other environments, shouldn’t it have done something by now?

2- Was this adressed / removed somewhere in season three when I wasn’t paying attention?

3- Is it also in the book, or is it the TV writers planting a Checkhov “well we might need the protomolecule to pop up later” thing?

It could be that the Protomolecule is “done” now that the stargate has been finished. Maybe now it has shut down.

I’m not going to post any real spoilers, but I’ll wrap it in tags just in case you want to go in totally blind.

You didn’t miss something, and it wasn’t a plant just in case they need it later. I’m sure it will be addressed in Season 4.
