The Exterminator is Coming...

For my car. Somehow, my car seems to have become a breeding ground for spiders. I hate spiders. They totally gross me out. I can’t even bring myself to go in my car now. I tried calling the Orkin man but they don’t do cars. So, I found this really nice man who owns his own business. He not only answered his phone at 11:00 on a Saturday night, he’s also coming out here (about 20 miles from his house), at 9:00 on Sunday morning to take care of my problem and it’s only going to cost me $80. He’d only charge me $40 if I brought the car to him but that would require me touching it. He says that I wont be able to use my car for a few hours but the stuff he will use doesn’t smell and shouldn’t give me any problems. He’s going to spray the underside, the whole body and the inside. He’s also going to spray the big tree in front of my condo because he’s guessing that’s where the nasty little buggers came from.

I thoroughly cleaned the inside and outside of my car yesterday thinking it might help. But no…I have found 5 spiders since then. I just don’t understand this. My car is not old. It’s not messy. It doesn’t sit, unused for long periods of time. Yet somehow, it managed to become infested.
He thinks they came from the tree. I think they came from Connecticut. That’s where my car was parked for a week while I was in Florida. It’s the longest amount of time my car has been unused since I got it last year.

In my whole life, I’ve never had to call an exterminator. I never thought I’d have to call for a car.

So anyway, I have to miss my appointment at the Red Cross tomorrow morning to get my car fumigated.

Them Connecticut tree spiders is the worst kind! They lay egg sacs down inside your defroster vents, and on a winter mornin’-you hit the blower switch and BAM there a gazillion of the little buggers blowin’ ever which way. :dubious:

Oh my god :eek: I hope you’re kidding. I actually thought my vents might be the spider’s home. Uggghhh {{{{{shudder}}}}}
What an awful thought.

Why couldn’t you just pay get your car vacuumed and shampooed? That would take care of the ones in the interior and your engine would take care of the rest. :slight_smile:

They’re not in the interior. I already thoroughly cleaned it. I don’t know where they are. If they’re in the engine, they’re a hardy bunch. I’d rather pay the money to have them fumigated than spend another second feeling like they’re crawling on me. I know it’s not the same one over and over because I keep killing them. I’m up to about 10 in the last 3 days. I don’t usually see that many spiders in one month.

Well, the nice exterminators came today. They told me that my wheel wells and my engine were filled with spiderwebs :eek: Those were the two places I wasn’t willing to look myself.
They told me that the stuff they used is good for 60 days but wont kill eggs. So, if any more hatch, the residue will kill them. Even so, I’ll be driving my fiancee’s car for at least 3 or 4 days. He’s not as bothered by them as I am. They also sprayed the base of the tree I park next to.

Connecticut tree spiders have learned to adapt to the cold. They are patient. Like Ahhnold-they’ll be back
