The fastest cars on the market
Models that blast from zero to 60 mph at optimum speed
Interesting. I have always wondered though, how do ‘they’ account for driver skill in 0-60 tests? Seems like you could always find someone who could squeak out an additional 0.1, ya know?
Shoot! The one I was eyein’ for my next turns in a meager 5.4 sec 0-60; I guess I’ll have to stay in the right lane.
Hmmm… I thought the Saleen 7 was 3.4 or so, just slightly behind the McLaren but at 1/3 the price.
That seems to only account for cars available in the US. This beast will do 0-60 in 3.48. Couldn’t find a price, but I’m guessing less than £30,000.
As the other measurements appear to be metric, is this mph or kph?
The UK is a mixed bag, we still use miles for distance, but metric for other weights and measures. So that will be 60 mph. Sometimes they’ll list it as 0 - 100kph which would actually be 0 - 62 mph.
Umm, the Ultima will do 0-60 in 2.7 seconds and costs £55,000 ($80,000?). Link . FYI, the acceleration records for the traction controlled cars are achieved by the not very subtle method of dialing in 7,000rpm and side-stepping the clutch. Great if you want quick acceleration, not so great if you want the car do move afterwards. That list seems pretty poor, I’m sure I could find cars that would beat all those times in all those categories given 30 minutes and Google.
MPH, according to this.
The Ultima is a kit car- you can’t count it any more than the Callaway Corvette Sledgehammer would count as the world’s fastest road car. (255 mph in 1990!)
I don’t quite get the Westfield. How the hell did they build one faster than the SEiGHT but with less power?
That looks a lot like the old Lotus 7. Is there any Lotus heritage in the Westfield, or did they just “steal” the design?
Perhaps because it’s also about 2/3 the weight? At 440kg, I’d be afraid it would blow away in a light breeze…
Then so is the Westfield surely? You can buy an Ultima ready made from the factory
The Megabusa uses a motorbike engine designed to move low mass vehicles so that may explain it.
It is based on the Loyus 7, I don’t know the legal details but I don’t think it’s the same car. Caterham, Robin Hood and Dax (as well as many others) also make Lotus 7 clone kit cars.
The Tiger Z100 is another 7 clone that will do 0-60 in 3.11 seconds (2.76 on slicks) and costs about £25,000 from the factory.
