Yes. Specifically, forensic experts instructed to go over a documents to check for its authenticity.
As it is the story is now much beyond just the font. The documents also

Hey, at least they didn’t use Afghan President Karzai’s people when they issued 3 year old pictures to prove the US bombed some civilians and then trotted out some clearly confused “village elders” who first mentioned that they had just been paid by the President to make their statement.

I Have Win XP, SP 2.

MS office (including Word) uses whatever fonts are installed in Windows, the fonts don’t get installed to MS office (or Word) specifically, and there’s no compatibility issue between Office 2003 and more modern fonts. Installing a font into windows is trivial and can be done silently by the installer of any software you’ve added. Unless you’ve carefully avoided installing new software on your Win XP box after installing Office 2003, including things like viewers for newer versions of Office, it’s much more likely that you got the font from something you installed later than that the people who made the font are wrong about when it was available to the general public.

It reminds me of the probably falsified memo passed to Dan Rather, which was supposed to have been written by GW Bush’s National Guard commanders but was probably written in MS Word. Kind of a slapdash forgery.

That may have been an intentionally slapdash forgery. Its purpose may not to have been to discredit Bush; its purpose may have been to discredit the investigations of Bush.

Welp, it seems it is over. Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, has resigned after the Supreme Court of Pakistan has disqualified him to be Prime Minister following the Panama Papers investigation.

Question for AK84 or any other Pakistani resident of these boards: Who is going to take over the post from him? The BBC article mentions his brother, but… Wouldn’t that be problematic, at least from a PR point of view? Wouldn’t the Pakistani people feel that he may be as corrupt as his brother was? Who would be well-placed to take the position?

They have been together as a pair in politics for 35 years* and lil Bro is actually very smart and capable while NS was a duffer. Elections are due next year anyhow.

I don’t know why they have not gone for early elections. It’s another stupid action, following a litany of stupid actions over the past 6 months. The scandal is not over, it’s been referred to the prosecutors. Means we have many more months of daily coverage. None of it flattering. Election now and the coverage disappates. Last time a Government went into a General Election, with a major corruption scandal over their heads ('97 Election) they were beat badly, from 130 seats went to 18.

*NS headed up a group of young politicians who took over the party in the mid eighties. Pretty much all of them are still in the party upper circle and in the Cabinet or in provincial governments (when in power). Which I think explains the stupidity, I think they are ossified now.
