General natter…

I suspect that 3, 4, 7 will cause issues with any UK players, since, if I’m not mislead by television, the UK edition is actually popular (unlike, say, the Canadian edition). Of course, I don’t know what the railroads are called in the UK edition, so, maybe only 3 & 4.

  1. I call conch, right here. 4, 5, 7 are likely, too.

“…2nd place in a Beauty contest”

After a 35 yr hiatus, I would have never remembered this card. But thanks to this feud, my mind is retreiving some nice memories of my childhood. I remember playing Monopoly along with “Battleship” and “Parchesi”, and “Trouble” for hour and hours when I was a kid.

Anyone remember “Trouble”? I think it was a very under-rated game.

FTR, I answered inheritance, but I don’t remember that either, but it makes sense. Maybe I remember it from the “game of LIFE”

I think I’ve done horribly.

I’m not sure. I thought there were options where they would tell you go to to the nearest property and if it it’s unowned, you can buy it, but if it’s not, you have to pay rent. Or am I just making that up, and it was only for railroad? Damn…it’s been too long.

Nope. Not nearest property. However there are the following:

There are two “advance tokens to nearest railroad” Chance cards, and, IIRC, are exactly the way Meeko worded them.

There is one (possibly two, but I think it’s only one) advance token to nearest utility Chance card. In this case, if unowned, you can buy it. If owned, you roll the dice and pay the owner 10 times that amount. (Nice if you only own one utility, not as nice if you own both anyway when someone else gets that card, since you get 10 times the dice regardless).

There is also one card each that advances you to Reading Railroad, Illinois Avenue, St. Charles Avenue, and Boardwalk (i.e. one property on each side of the board)

Whenever someone drew that card, we had to say “The first prize winner was Frankenstein!”
