The First Annual Mike Tomlin Marches the Steelers to the Super Bowl Thread

Gotta agree with Hentor. There’s no such thing as an easy game for us from here on out. Next week against Miami could end just as badly, because they’re even more desperate, and we are playing down to bad teams this season.

New England is a guaranteed loss, and we’ll probably lose to the Jaguars. If we give up anymore than that it will be very likely that Cleveland will take the division.

I’m less confident that we are playing down to bad teams. I think we are just a bad team. We’ve beaten only two teams with winning records this year (Seattle and Cleveland) and neither of those teams is very impressive. We’ve lost three games to teams with losing records (okay, Arizona is 5-5, but still…).

We’ll see next Monday night.

I think for us to be considered a “good team,” we must achieve both of these against the Dolphins:

-Hold them to 10 or fewer points

-Beat them by at least 21 points

If we win a close one, sure a win is a win and we’ll most likely make the post season, but we’ll be a one-and-done.

If we lose…congrats to the Browns because they’ll most likely take the division.

Well, tonight’s the night for your Steelers. I can’t imagine the Dolphins winning this one. They are just so completely demoralized at this point, I can’t imagine them getting their shit together enough to squeez a win out of any game.

Great Pats game last night, by the way. Did anyone happen to catch it?

Well, I’m off to the game…when you see the fans miserable in the pouring rain, think of me! If the Steelers can pull themselves back together and just pound Miami into the ground, it’ll go a long way towards making the cold rainy feeling go away!

Go Steelers!

Especially against a good team that lost to a weak opponent last week.

Though not a great game by the Pats. If the Steelers can catch them playing like that, the undefeated season could be over. (I continue to believe that the Steelers are much the most likely team to accomplish this.)

I dunno. If the Jets can beat them…

But let us hope they come in looking to make up for it this week.

Missed the Pats. Wish now I had stayed up for it.

Finally! I was starting to think I wouldn’t see any of the game!

Go Steelers!

Our field is such an embarrassment. I would love to know what Joey said after the interception!

I’ve read that rather than do the normal procedure of removing torn up field before laying down the new stuff, they just throw new sod and grass over the old stuff, which then can’t take hold properly, which leads to… well, you see the results.

Not sure if it’s true, but that’s gotta be the crappiest field in the NFL.

Two unproductive drives so far against the worst team in the league.

If they score first I might throw up.

Well, I put some money on the under (37.5) when I saw the weather reports, but I bet Pittsburgh -16 earlier, when I figured this would be a statement game after last week. Both still could be had if Pittsburgh wins in a 27-9 type game, but the window is small and I hate to give 16 points to anyone with weather/field conditions like that.

Edit: Of course I would give that up if Pittsburgh flat out loses, cause that’d be hilarious enough to be worth it.

But is it crappier than the old Vet field?

Stopped on fourth.

Long way to go to beat them by 21.

Miami’s defense is playing inspired. Offense is pretty pathetic though.

Are the Steelers going to crap the bed two weeks in a row against the worst of the NFL?

I doubt it. I see Pittsburgh pulling out a 13-3 type victory still… but it’ll be fun to see.

The Steelers are scoreless against the worst team in the league at halftime.

Good teams don’t go scoreless against the worst team in the league at the half.

21 points to go.

By the way, was that fumble recovery play a cheap shot? From the angle they showed it was hard to tell. Was that the rookie Timmons?

The field is really awful tonight, and it is a hindrance for both teams. However, Miami is making some good progress on their first drive of the second half.

If the teams don’t score touchdowns, they had better get within range for a chip-shot field goal because there is NO way that anybody will ever get close at more than about 35 yards on this field, which is known for treacherous kicking conditions even on the best of days.

The field is always like this for some reason. The Rooneys really need to take a look at why that’s so.

Joey said “You love me, you know you love me”, probably to Ben Roethlisberger.

… and the Steelers took over on downs. Let’s see what happens now.

I figured they made the field crappy on purpose. Power running team, home field advantage, and all that.

It would be awesome if it were their undoing.
