Being 5-0, in command of your division and averaging 36.4 points per game?
Not that he had any legitimate bitch about the calls in the Superbowl. However, this is the ass kicking that the Superbowl should have been. I thought Hasselbeck got her ass kicked by Pelosi on the view, but this was far, far worse!
I hate to use a football announcer word, but Ben’s “escapability” in the pocket has been terrific this year. Yeah, he’s taken some sacks where he should have thrown it away, but it seems like he’s shedding tacklers like crazy. Even better, he’s stepping up or sideways when he needs to, giving himself more time to make plays.
Dominant game yesterday. Very nice coming off of the loss to the Cards. I’m glad the bye week will give us some time to get healthy, but on the other hand, I’d like to keep yesterday’s momentum.
The Bills may just hand the Cowboys their first loss of the season. Romo’s thrown four interceptions. But there’s still another half and the Boys are only down seven. And Lord knows they’ve pulled victories out of their ass.
I’m hopeful they’ll stay undefeated. But I’ve got my fingers crossed.

They Steelers aren’t on until 8:00!
I get up at 5AM so these late games kill me. I may still try to watch the first half, but I sure would rather they played day games!
I didn’t bump this thread last week because, well, the Steelers had a bye week and I don’t care about any other team.
Still, I must say that Baltimore losing was glorious to watch. Some sportswriter said a few weeks ago that he watched Baltimore age right before his eyes. He was right. They look old and busted. As I predicted in the OP, McNair is hurt for an extended period of time, Ray-Ray apparently expends too much energy pregame on his spastic “dance” because he looks like he has nothing in the tank, and the team’s injury list is almost as long as the uninjured list. I can’t wait until Pittsburgh takes them to the woodshed.
In the meantime, I eagerly anticipate the sighs out of Denver tonight when they finally have to come to grips with their new-found mediocrity.
I hate to agree, but I think that Denver is going to get the crap beat out of them. I simply cannot figure out how the AFC West got so bad so fast.
On the plus side, I can jump on the Rockies bandwagon and try to defend it by pointing out that I’m already a Broncos fan.
I too was pleased to see Baltimore lose. But kudos to them, they fought 'til the end.
The Steelers clearly dominate our devision. I am guessing the team to beat is the Pats.
So, how 'bout those Eagles? If giving up a 97-yard touchdown drive to the anemic Bears in the last two minutes with no timeouts isn’t a monumental choke, I don’t know what is.
Speaking of the Bears, I’m still waiting for Enfant Terrible to come back to this thread to eat that humble pie he baked for himself lo those many weeks ago.
God, but this has been a great Sunday. The Ratbirds lose, the Eagles choke like dogs, all that’s left is for the Steelers to beat Shanahan into retirement and all will be well with the world.
I’m shutting down my computer for the night. I’ll post more in the morning.
Go Steelers!
Ahem.
Someone is getting taken behind the woodshed, but it’s not the Broncos. Ouch.
Well, it’s only coming up on halftime, so there’s plenty of time to come back from this debacle. I hope.
This is also the best I’ve seen the Broncos play all season. They’re actually getting pressure and getting to the QB, they’re finally taking some advantage of turnovers and chances of getting turnovers, they’re actually tackling, and, most importantly, they’re actually converting in the red zone. They have to find a way to stop Ward, though, who’s playing really well.
Where is our secondary?
It’s not very often where our offense FAR outplays our defense. This next drive is huge.
Looks like we scored too soon.
Well then. That pretty much sucks. Good on Denver for finally showing up. Too bad Pittsburgh didn’t in the first half.
I like that we were able to wake up for the second half and came very close to pulling off the win. But after seeing highlights from the Patriots game we’d need to give 210% to beat them. Not impossible of course (see: Pit @ Ind in 2005 playoffs), but also not likely. The Pats are just playing on an entirely different plane from the rest of the league this year.
Speaking of which, trading away Randy Moss for a fourth round draft pick has to go down as the greatest trade gaff in NFL history if the Patriots win the Super Bowl.
I missed all of the game. Fell asleep before it got too far under way.
A disappointing turn of events, but I guess we’ll have to work harder next week.
Well, it depends. He certainly wasn’t going to perform like he is performing right now if he hadn’t left Oakland. And the deal might very well have fallen through if Oakland played hardball.
Still, he adds a whole level to the array of weapons Tom Brady has. (I hate sounding like a cliched sportscaster)
Oops! Better luck next week!
