The First Bumbly Bee of the Year!

Believe it or not, its warm enough here in Seattle that I have my window open a bit. Of course, my body is a natural radiator so it doesn’t take much to open my window.

Anyway, I looked over to find a honey bee (I call all bees bumblies) had gotten inside and was desperately trying to get back outside! On the 24th of January! The little gal even had packets of pollen on her back legs. Must be from the heather blooming in the neighborhood.

You folks just keep on believing that it does nothing but rain here in the Pacific Northwest. When I go out in a little bit, I may just put on a fleece vest. Or maybe I won’t.

Sorry about your blizzards, you Eastern folks.

A week or so ago, it was 50+ degrees outside and I had robins at my feeder. Since then, the temperature has dropped by about 60 degrees, we’ve had 2+ feet of snow, and those poor feathered SOBs are probably shivering on a limb somewhere combing through tourist brochures.

All we need now is a Doper that can’t touch this thread.

Maybe it’s the last bumbly bee of the year, but no one gave him the memo that it was time to die.
