It was originally “Crimea Lane” named after the small Crimea River (which was completely paved over in the mid -1800s and is now part of the Gotham City sewer system).
My issue was always why they were in any alley. Okay, they left the Fleidermaus early because little Bruce was scared, making him more guilty because it’s his fault they were there. (though in Miller’s version they left the Mark of Zorro, and his guilt came from having enjoyed himself so much just before things went south). But why slip out the back into some garbage-strewn crime-ridden alley? Wearing tuxes, pearls and other accoutrements that fairly scream “Rob us!”
And whatever the origins of the name, the people of Gotham knew it was Crime Alley. Chicago’s often know jack-all about St. Frances X. Cabrini but they knew to avoid Cabrini Green.
Yes, but it was one of those events which marked the decline of Gotham’s safety. It should have been perfectly safe to cut through there.
That was deliberate, right?
You are both assuming facts not in evidence. The name Crime Alley was given to the location as a result of the Waynes’ murders, not before. Then it was Park Row (Not Crimea Lane) in a fashionable part of Gotham, now it is Crime Alley in a nasty part of a crime ridden city. So there was no reason at all for the Waynes to avoid it, or to expect to mugged, let alone murdered there.
I’m glad someone read what I wrote. Finally.
I’m in. Arrow is great, so I’ll give this a shot.
Anyone else notice that John Wesley Shipp plays Barry’s dad?
There seems to be a pattern of casting a prior generation’s actor as a parental figure in new iterations. But then, most forgotten actors would probably take an agent’s call in a… well, you know.
You mean besides in post 1 where that is pointed out? No, it hasn’t been mentioned since then.
What, you mean I’m supposed to read the OP before posting? Get outta town!
