What was up with Caitlyn’s makeup and hairstyle in this episode? She was barely recognizable.
Danielle Panabaker injured her forehead, to the extent of requiring seven stitches, very early in the season’s production. The hairstyle was an attempt at covering that up. (She also sported the strange hairstyle last week, during Henry Allen’s homecoming.) I understand Caitlin will be getting a new hairdo in upcoming episodes, featuring bangs.
Thanks - I was worried that it was a different actress.
That makes sense. And the newspaper from the future that had “Iris West-Allen” as a byline was from an alternate future - one in which Barry and Iris had not been raised together, so that fits too.
I blame it more on the actress. She didn’t have chemistry with Eddie, either (IMO).
Speaking of which - in the last six months, has anyone visited Gideon the Future-Computer and her “News From Tomorrow” archives? Seems like quite an asset to have just forgotten about.
Yeah, I was wondering about that myself. Gideon might even have some news about alternate universes, and recognize the name “Jay Garrick”
I thought the character development was strangely arbitrary this episode—first Barry distrusts Jay without any good reason, only to then flip around into best buddy mode; also, Barry and police girl seemed to be thrown together entirely by plot needs, there was no development of any kind of relationship, it was just there by fiat.
Cisco needs to come clean about his abilities to the team; the reason they’ve given why he doesn’t is really weak, and it just smacks off artificial drama to me.
I liked the call-out to the many-interacting-universes theory, which is actually a recent proposal for explaining some features of quantum mechanics (although way overhyped; I’ve explained it a bit here, promptly killing that thread); but highlighting that there’s someone with his ear at least to the popular science press on the team of the show just makes their blatant disregard for science and logic at other points all the more grating.
Yes, I also found this particularly grating this episode. She seems perpetually caught just on the way to some sort of high-society fundraiser, or whatever, but not like somebody dressed to do laboratory work.
Finally saw it. I’m a Silver Age Flash-Fan geek, and happy as hell, especially with the callback to the issue cover.
