The Flash S03E12: Untouchable

I remember back in Season 1, people were complaining about the inexperienced Barry Allen and how he didn’t know about all the things they’d seen the Flash do in the comics. Now we’ve just seen him phase an entire train and all the passengers. Has he done that in the comics?

They should change Killer Frost’s name to Healer Frost, and maybe Caitlin will get over her hangup about using her powers. Julian, though, should run far, far away from her lest he become dead boyfriend #3.

Next week, Gorilla City!

Not quite seeing the downside.

Was the bad guy here based on a comic character. Is “Untouchable” his name? Because I though it kind of funny when the woman cop called him a degenerate, because everything he touched degenerated.

Yes to the first question, no to the second. He didn’t have a code name.

Cisco didn’t give him a code name. He must be losing his touch.

Barry, et al, jumped to the conclusion that Untouchable was invulnerable to bullets, because he was able to dissolve bullets he saw coming - but obviously, the guy doesn’t affect everything that he touches (clothing, shoes and socks, etc.) which suggests that he consciously chooses what to disintegrate - so a bullet (or crowbar) from behind probably would have dealt with him just fine.

Right. He was even drinking a coffee and the cup didn’t disintegrate in his hand.

I don’t remember Flash doing the train-phasing thing in the comics (though I don’t read many); what I do remember is Kitty Pryde phasing an airplane full of people through some obstacle on some animated cartoon.

And maybe somebody should suggest to Caitlin that she call herself “Doctor Snow”, which works well as a code name and is her actual name and a title she’s entitled to, considering she’s got an M.D.

Iris is really lucky about Flashpoint; if Caitlin didn’t have cold powers, as a physician, she might have suggested amputation.

Does Cisco have the cold gun which they took back from Len Snart? (I think Snart built his own version after his breakout from Iron Heights with Weather Wizard.)

I missed a few episodes this season so I’m left wondering why Caitlin can’t use her powers without becoming evil?

Is it something Savitar is doing to her?

If it’s not, I don’t get it.
Poetically it may make sense that the power of cold freezes her heart and that would make her indifferent to behaving morally. But Killer Frost isn’t really emotionally cold. Mr. Freeze in the animated series was perfectly portrayed as someone willing to carry out cold vengeance or eliminate anyone who got in his way. She’s more hot and enthusiastic to do bad.
It’s more like if you gave the beautiful, young doctor a gun to carry around so she could defend herself, she would immediately become drunk with power and go on a killing spree.

It would make perfect sense and be consistent if Snow just freaks out and lets out her inner jerk, since she’s subconsciously assuming that villains are allowed to be snappish.

Plus, she saw her other-Earth counterpart, which presumably impressed her.

I think they tried using it to break Barry out of the mirror but it wasn’t cold enough.

They haven’t explained it at all.

Plastique, the woman who involuntarily caused everything she touched to explode, didn’t affect her own clothes. So at least they’re consistent about that.

I was expecting the stuff Wally vibrated through to start exploding, though I guess it’s far too early for that power adjustment.
