The Fountain of Yoot. Guest MMP

Hey, somebody’s gotta start this thing up, might as well be me.

So, anyway, ACBG and I spent three days in St. Augustine, FL. We had a great time. Lots of stuff to see and do, lots of good food, lots of TMI stuff I won’t bore you with. And Blizzards. We ate DQ Blizzards everyday.

Since we were in St. Augie and all, we decided to get real touristy and see as many tourist attractions as we could. There’s lots and lots of that there. We made a dent but didn’t get anywhere near half the stuff we coulda seen. We walked around the historic district, saw the alligator museum, the lighthouse, the shrine of The Lady de la Leche (with a 250’ tall stainless steal cross), Ripley’s, the Fort, the old city gate, the protestant and catholic cemetaries, the old drugstore, the fort, Potter’s Wax Museum, the winery (I brought back six bottles of Vitner’s White, six bottles of Vintner’s Red and a bottle of Port), the old jail (that has a gallows out back!) and the famous Fountain of Yoot. We did a trolley tour which rode us by all the stuff to see and we kinda chose what to do from there.

The Fountain of Yoot was our favorite. Not only because we got to drink from the fountain and are now both vigorous 20 year old males (HAH!) but because of the tour guide. He was worth the price of admission. He kept sayin’ “Fountain of Yoot.” We <snerked> each time he said “Fountain of Yoot.” From now on it shall forever be in my mind “The Fountain of Yoot.”

Thus endeth the tale of my juvenility (it’s a word now!) in St. Augustine, FL.

Oh, and we had Chinese food twice during our trip. Ok, once was yesterday after we got back home but in our minds we were still on vacation so it counts. Feel free to <snerk> away.

This is a good time to consider formally helping others.

Others appreciate your sensitivity.

Oh, one more thing, as if I needed further proof I am indeed a gay man, I bought four pairs of shoes. I went in an outlet store for a pair of dress shoes. I bought said pair. I walk by a Rockport outlet store and spy a pair of wingtips on sale. I try em on and bought em. Then I walk by a Bass outlet store and see two pair of soft leather shoes (in black and brown). I walk in, try em on and bought em. They were on sale! I am soooooo gay!

Swampy, my clothes have gotten too big for me, and I’m afraid I’ll have to go buy a whole new wardrobe; I know for sure that at least 2 pairs of shoes are in my immediate future, too.

Do you think I got the gay?

Glad you had a good time on your vacation, Swampy!

Let’s see - bought a bicycle at a yard sale Saturday - if I don’t post for a while it just means I killed myself on the damned thing. Went to the opening day of hockey training camp Saturday as well - actually spent more time catching up with my hockey pals than watching the ice, but oh well. Opening night is this Friday!!!

Probably going to the cabin on Lake Harding this afternoon. Ga. Power has let the water down in the lake, so we are going to do some repairs to the boat ramp. After planting 5 golden fern plants and 40 tulip bulbs yesterday, looks like I’m in for another day of backache.

Today is my last day of cat-sitting; the owner will be back this afternoon. The cats will be so happy! Zack (large white male) meets me at the door every visit and gives me the “you’re not the mama” look.

Bobbio not to worry about catching teh gay. You need new threads and shoes cause of your shrinkage, which is a good thing. I needed a pair of dress shoes and bought three more pairs just because they were on sale and looked good. See the difference?

SCL ahh… Lake Harding. Know it well. Lots of fun times there. Some of which I even remember.

Good morning, everybody! Ya wanna know what I did this weekend? I thought real hard about cleaning. I didn’t actually do it, but I thought real hard.

Friday night, we went to see Serenity, finally. I think I should be ashamed at how easily a movie can make me cry. I am such a girl, sometimes.

Saturday, I had an appointment to get my car looked at, after the battery fiasco on Thursday. I ended up telling them to just do the 60K mile service, because I was overdue for that. Thankfully, I had somebody to come pick me up, and I didn’t have to spend the whole afternoon sitting there, waiting for my car. But a couple hours later, I get a phone call–yes, my battery does need to be replaced. As do my front brakes and my whole fuel injection system. And all of my tires, but they can’t do that today, because they don’t have any tires on hand. I told 'em to go on ahead and fix all of it, deciding I’d rather have my car in good shape than eat all week.

When I get there, the car guy has something else for me. “You didn’t tell me your ‘Check Engine’ light was on.”

“I told you the ‘Maintenance Required’ light was on, I thought that was good enough–I said I wanted the engine checked, wouldn’t that naturally make you assume that the ‘Check Engine’ light is on?”

“They’re two different things.”

“Didn’t the guy who moved my car into the repair bay notice it was on?”

“Not until we were finished.”

sigh He says that according to the computer, my heater is broken. If my heater’s broken, I don’t want it fixed–it nearly roasted me alive this morning on the way to work before I realized it was even on–I thought I was just hot.

Then Saturday night, after being financially raped by the Honda Corporation as a whole, I had all my friends over, and we watched The Amityville Horror and April Fools’ Day, 'cause it was a horror movie kinda night.

Yesterday I did my laundry and sat on the couch, pretending that I was going to get up and clean at any moment.

Swampy, will you buy me some shoes? Fat girls love shoes because they always fit.

My record for shoe simul-purchase stands at 2. Rockports were on sale for half price, so I bought one dark brown, one light brown. So let’s apply the scientific method here…

If Winston purchases 2 pairs of shoes, and he is not gay, and
Swampy buys 4 pairs of shoes, and he is fabulous, then

Evidently, the threshhold for non-gay-simul-shoe purchase is three.

There’s a statue of the lady of the milk in St. Augustine? Why for?

Also, VBob not all male shrinkage is good. At least not unless you’re unusually “gifted”.

I was successful at not doing any cleaning this weekend. But I did a bunch of other stuff. I saw the new Wallace and Gromit movie (very funny), went to a couple of concerts, and tie-dyed some shirts. I baked some yummy oatmeal-chocolate chip cookies. I need to get some more mini-Hershey’s kisses–I only have enough for one more batch of cookies. If you’re going to make big cookies, ya gotta have big chips! No weenie little chocolate chips for me.

I feel like I’m getting a cold. I hope it goes away. I have too much to do to be sick.

I’m busier now than I was when I had a job. I’m not sure what I’ll do when I start working again. I need a personal assistant.

Indeed there is. You’ll have to ask the Catlicks why though.

Thing is, Drae I don’t usually love shoes. It’s just those Rockports and those Bass soft leather shoes (I’m wearing the black ones today) were so nice and comfy and on sale! The wingtips just ooze class. I can’t wait til I need to play dress up again.

Swampy Dear I wish I’d known you were going to the shrine of Our Lady of La Leche!! I would have loved a statue! I see online they have them for sale, put you have to call to order, etc. But being the absolutely fabulous Catholic mama that I am, the Blessed Virgin and St. Gerard are my special pals! (Anyone remember my Glow in the Dark Blessed Mother?? That’s for the real MMP old-timers.) At any rate, I’m so glad you all had a nice time and did lots of fun touristy things.

Saturday was a total yard-sale day for me, too. The woman across the street as a son a year older than mine, and she’s a shop-a-holic BIG TIME. I don’t see any reason I need to go to the store, ever again. I went over there about bought about a tenth of her stock, and I have enough to outfit the Baby Cherry for the entire winter! And in other, pants-related news for Ellen, I purchased two pairs of jeans tossed into the yard sale mix by my next-door neighbor, who is also lucky enough to be going down pants sizes. She’s one size ahead of me at the moment. Other neighbors were milling around the yard sale, and we all agreed that we should just start rotating all our junk.

This weekend at Chez Cherry, we also had fun assembling a care package for Doper DiosaBellissima (who is not a MMP’er, but maybe we can recruit her), who, not long ago, sent my daughter her clarinet. Free! Gratis! Out of the goodness of her dear heart. Although cookies were supposed to baked for another dear college-age doper, there was too much weekend in my weekend, and he’ll have to settle for another surprise instead. So watch your mail, CB!!

And we found out that next weekend, my in-laws are coming for a visit. YAY YAY YAY. Unlike most people, I adore my in-laws. They are just as wonderful as my husband, and I can’t want for them to visit!

So, even though it’s been a week since my birthday, happiness still ensues.

I actually did do some cleaning this weekend. I decided to pull apart a couple of my kitchen drawers and cabinets and wash them out. Boy, after 3+ years they get pretty nasty don’t they??

Other than that I just hung out, read more of Harry Potter (I’m up to book 6 now!), did some cross stitch, and relaxed a lot. Good weekend!

Ah i was wondering where you guys had got to…

Congratulations on your lack of effort MagicEyes.

I spent the weekend recoding my website and feeling poorly. I am very pleased with the look of my site now so i feel like i did something productive (even though it’s not finished yet).

I stayed off work today and now i’m feeling a bit better so i might go out for a bit. Actually i need some shoes - haven’t really got past the summer sandals bit yet and i’m sure my feet will be cold in those soon. I definitely don’t have the gay thing with shoes. Don’t have ANY thing with shoes cos frankly i’d rather be barefoot but that doesn’t work for UK winters. Though i notice it’s much much warmer than i was expecting in London in the wintertime so maybe…

I didn’t do much this weekend. I went out to dinner last night, which was nice. I paid, 'cause it was in thank you for my friends coming over and installing my dresser mirror. I’d had the mirror since January, so it was about time I put it up. Dinner was at a Japanese restaurant - one of those ones where they cook in front of you. Food and entertainment - nothing better!

This week it looks like there will be more dining out than I am used to. Dinner out last night, planned dinner out Wed. with the same couple that I went out with last night (go to a cool Mongolian barbecue), dinner out tonight (some international clients in town), and mom comes in Friday, so dinner out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On the upside, when this week is over, I’ll be thrilled to get back to my own kitchen. On the downside, I’ll have to see how well I can portion control around others.

I have a major headache. I’m trying to give up diet soda. I originally was going to do cold turkey, but since it is giving me a headache and making me nauseus, it might not be the way to go. They say that the more caffeine you drink the worse withdrawl is. I can drink 4 24-ounce bottles of Diet Mountain Dew in a day. I’m surprised my head hasn’t blown up yet.

As I previously pointed out a few MMPs ago, what you’re thinking of is actually getting bigger. That particular post nearly cost Swampy his crown as TMI king…

Good morning all.

My weekend was very busy. Woke up at 8:00 a.m on Saturday, went out to breakfast, stopped at Mervyns after breakfast because the hubby needed new jeans. We ended purchasing him a pair of new jeans and two new shirts. I purchased two new sweaters and a picture to put up in my fireplace niche. FCM will be glad to know the TV is coming out of there.

After this shopping excursion, we stopped by Gamestop so the hubby could reserve two games that are due to be released. After that we went home. I was home all of fifteen minutes before I decided I needed to go out shopping again. I’m looking for an easel to hold the picture I purchased. I know exactly what I want, and I’ve even seen them; but do you think I could find one one on Saturday? Nope, not one to be found. I went to JoAnnes, Michaels, Pier One, Aarons Framing, and even Target. Nada.

Anyway, came home from several hours of that and found my MIL at my house. Entertained her for a bit and then she left. After that, I had to run to the grocery store to get something for dinner. Came home, cooked it, and then got ready to go out to the Tacoma Comedy Underground with some friends. We had a blast and the comedians were great. Unfortunately, I ate something there that didn’t like me, so by the time I came home I had to…er…spew. NO, I didn’t drink too much. I had three drinks and wasn’t even buzzed.

Anyway, Sunday rolled around and I got up and got cleaned up. Went to the butcher store and the grocery store with Mr. Taters and picked up ingredients for the dinner he made last night. We came home and I cleaned up the kitchen while he threw together the ingredients for his dinner. He made swiss steak in the crockpot. After I cleaned up the kitchen, my sister, BIL and mother dropped by so I entertained them for awhile. They finally left, and I finished straightening up the house and did some laundry. Then some other friends arrived for dinner. We had dinner together and watched a movie.

So, that was my very busy weekend.

My poor daughter is still sick. She stayed home from school today and that is extremely unusual for her. I really hope she’s feeling better tomorrow. She’s been sick since Thursday.

Swampy, good job on the MMP.

What this country really needs is a Fountain of Smart…

Happy Monday, y’all.
First things first:

<snerk> and <snerk>!

Catlicks have a very bizarre collection of statues, shrines, and memorabilia. I don’t know why. I stopped going to Mass before they let me in on all the reasons. Maybe if I joined the K of C, they’d let me know. Or I could ask my uncle when he gets back from Ireland.

I got an owie on my ankle Friday night. Stepped off a curb and twisted the damn thing. As a result, I spent most of Saturday on the couch, doing a whole load of nothing. Yesterday, it was just too nice outside, so I wrapped it up, and cut the grass. And attacked the giant overgrown hedge by the deck. And got the spare bedroom ready for the carpet installers that are coming by today. Does my ankle hurt today? Why yes it does.

VBob anytime anyone mentions shrinkage, the first thing that comes to mind is Julia Louis-Dreyfuss saying, “I don’t know how you guys can even walk around with those things.” Just a pop-culture junkie, I guess.

So I bailed work Friday afternoon and went shopping. First I went to Target but they are remodeling my store and it about drove me nuts trying to find the small appliances. I was looking for a certain grind and brew coffee maker that I saw they had online. Unfortunately, the store didn’t actually have the one I was looking at, nor did they have a toaster that pleased me. The afternoon was still young so I decided to try Penney’s to see what they had. Got the coffeemaker (Cuisinart Grind and Brew) and a cool new toaster and, as a bonus, a new set of cookware that was on sale. Yay!

Then it was back to Target for some everyday stainlessware cause we were down to about four forks, and a cute little salt n pepper caddy and a neat black wire pedastal fruit basket.

My kitchen is tres chic now and also very Jake.

swampy, you didn’t happen to see the burly blacksmith while you were in St. Augie, did you? I’ve been to the fort several times. I don’t know if they still have them but there used to be little tape players at different points that you’d push play and a voice that sounded just like Guido Sarducci would tell you about that particular spot in the fort.

Yes, fall is here and it is abso-effin-lutely (is, too, a word) faaaaabulous. I really want to play hookey from work again today but prolly better not.

The only not so good thing on the horizon is Wilma! I sure hope she doesn’t decide to visit Orlando.

Tupug

I need new shoes.

Really, I don’t need them. I want new shoes.

Hold it. Slow down the thread for a second.

There are wineries in Florida? Florida? Where in hell do they get the grapes from?
