I agree. Did Scylla do these things?
Has Scylla done any of this? I mean, I know he’s partisan but I don’t remember him playing the “patriotism” card or calling anybody a traitor even back before the invasion. Scylla has never struck me as one who does not respect dissent or who can’t tolerate an opposing view.
Damn Gary, you are nailing my thoughts 100%
I don’t recall Scylla in particular levelling any accusations of traitorous activity against anyone here.
I like Scylla. He’s respectable in my book.
Most of the uncalled for grief I took as a result of my inherent inability to trust politicians came from other MBs and IRL, too.
And to be fair, today isn’t Thanksgiving yet.
Fair enough. If they find massive stockpiles by Thanksgiving 2003 I will replace my Tofu pups with diseased crows infected with the West Nile virus, or register as a Republican (whichever seems more nasty).
FTR, on a serious note, I cannot think of an instance where Scylla accused someone of being a traitor. That trick seems to have been reserved for other posters. That said, I do have pretty strong memories of some rather condescending behavior and tortured logic on his part.
The closest I remember any poster using that traitor bullshit was december saying something like “and some might even call them traitors…”, so that he could later say “Hey, I didn’t say they were traitors…”.
Even the most partisan GOP’ers on the board are smart enough to see through that bullshit, I suppose.
Ahem…
I am a registered Republican.
And drone, what I meant was that the apology and crow eating isn’t scheduled until Thanksgiving. So Scylla not being here at the moment don’t mean much.
Revtim, most of the people on this board may be smart enough, but that last-refuge-of-a-scoundrel bullshit still has an effect elsewhere. Consider the RNC’s latest campaign ad: “Some are now attacking the president for attacking the terrorists.”
Yeah, I saw that ad. I doubt even the most hard-line 'pubs on the board would support it. But of course, IRL it will be applauded.
I saw that ad, my eyes rolled out of my asshole.
In my opinion, at this point it doesn’t matter if we find a motherfucking two hundred foot tall anthropoid Iraqi robot with two Fat Man A-bombs for balls and a SCUD for a johnson that stomps around pissing botulin toxin and farting Zyklon B.
We still have to go back and tell the Delian League that while we managed to take out the potential threat of Melos, we’re a little short on talents and need their help.
Not good. Very not good.
Don’t give up hope. We’re pulling for you…
Good grief, man! Don’t talk him out of it! We need all the SimonX variety of conservatives we can get in the Republican party! Somebody’s gotta take the party of Lincoln back from the radicals. (Maybe then we can get the Democratic wing of the Democratic party motivated…)

I think I saw that in an anime before…
Remember everyone: It is WMD programs what we are looking now… oops, never mind: even tough officially we are concentrating on programs, the administration was so dumb as to not keep an eye on the rocket guys:
http://registerguard.com/news/2003/11/17/a2.int.iraq.scientists.1117.html
Experts long feared that the collapse of Saddam’s rule could lead to the kind of scientific brain-drain the United States tried to prevent as the former Soviet Union collapsed. But the Bush administration had no plan for Iraqi scientists and instead officials suggested they could be tried for war crimes.
“There are a couple hundred Iraqis who are really good scientists, particularly in the missile area,” said Jonathan Tucker, a former U.N. inspector now with the Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Monterey Institute in California. “In the chemical and biological areas, their work wasn’t state of the art but it was good enough to be of interest to other countries.”
Only now is the State Department exploring the possibility of a government-funded program to block a scientific exodus and to prevent Iraqis from doing future research in weapons of mass destruction. Initial cost estimates for the program run about $16 million, according to a Nov. 3 draft proposal.
What was what I heard before? Oh yes, that the grow ups are in charge! If the only certifiable reason for invasion then was to prevent WMD info to reach other terrorists, IMO that reason was also BS.
Somebody’s gotta take the party of Lincoln back from the radicals.
We’re trying… but the Bible-thumping is drowning us out.

minty, yes, he’s “kinda-sorta admitted” being factually wrong, but no more so than absolutely necessary to stop the Thanksgiving stuff. But, given the volume and intensity of the childishly-personal vituperation that the poster in question has spewed toward those who pointed it out to him, without even seriously starting to “kinda-sorta” apologize, aren’t we entitled to more?
Not yet. Thursday, my friend. And let the man speak for himself before you start tearing into him for not saying more. This preemptive assault is not called for, yet.
Binarydrone, I read your OP carefully, and I understand you acknowledged Scylla’s subsequent statements on the matter . . . but really, if you don’t want to be perceived as calling the guy out, it’s best not to (a) put his name in the title of a Pit thread and (b) specifically refer to his comments (i.e., the Thanksgiving deadline) as the touchstone for your ire.
No Problems Binarydrone. Kudos to those who were correct on such a controversial and hotly debated issue. For the record, I still think and admit that I was wrong.
Okeydoke?
