The Gift of Life in the MMP

Mollie So sorry about Buttercup.

It’s so hot here my var has given up on reporting the temp accurately. I had an errand to visit the upholstererers and my car said it was 81 ferrets. Wrong.

Somebody give that cat a “harrumph.”

Downstairs Coolio Sr is doing better this evening, I slightly adjusted his angle so he drains better.

This whole having PTO thing is throwing me for a loop. I’ve never had it before. Where am supposed to take off 2 anna half weeks? I’ve got too much stuff to do, taking time off will just put me behind schedule. Plus I do all the opening tasks most days, the rest of the team is…shall we say lackadaisical on their arrival time. Then I’ve got another 2 anna half weeks of sick time. Plus almost a week of “holiday time.” Can I just take the whole summer off and still get paid?

I wore my tape measure home today. It’s usually my first thing at work to clip it to my pocket, but usually I take it off and leave it on the desk. Ms Peach is not a fan. It smells like me, but it makes funny noises, and a thing comes out of it.

Mollie, I’m sorry about buttercup. What a lovely bun.

Today the new plants for the lidded tank arrived. Of course the tank hasn’t arrived as yet. I added the plants to the existing tank. The fish are very excited.

Since my mom has been gone, whenever I’ve gone up there for Thanksgiving, we do Polish food instead of the traditional turkey and dressing. It tends to be the only time Dad gets the stuff he grew up on.

Nelson’s is the post of the Please pick up after your dog sign in the courtyard. :stuck_out_tongue:

Howy again Y’all! We have supped upon pizza and sallit and watched stoopid stuff on teevee. It has been so hawt today that we have mostly been inside bears. I called MediaCom this mornin’ and was very polite, but firm in my dislike for what happened especially since the lines were clearly marked. I also stated that I would like it on record that the people who were performin’ the work (probably contracted out) should not be given any more work if they are unable to read and understand utility markin’s. Double it will do any good, but felt good to say it anyway. Thanks for all the commiserate harumphs!

Taters I am sorry all the fireworks cause Maisie so much distress. No one has shot any off around here yet. Although now that I have made that public, no doubt the ka*booms will commence.

Mollie a belated happy birthday to Fang. Sounds like he got some good swag. Also, cheesecake is never a bad idea. Sorry you couldn’t get an appointment on Firday, but glad you got an appointment for next Tuesday so that you can wear your new hair to counselin’ and the MTTA meetin’. I remember that sketch. So sorry about Buttercup.(((Hugs))) to the Magill family.

Rocker be on the lookout for pod people. However, hooray for the 'nanner split.

red nice of you to get those things your dad wants! I read that at first as “I picked up envelops of M&Ms” and thought, what a strange package for M&Ms.

Knotty enjoy the ice cream and dinner. Conga rats to your nephew on his new Catlick gig.

BrightTree I tend to skim things then read. So, I read that you were blowin’ off a potato while changin’ out of worn hose. There would definitely be a story to tell there!

VanGo glad Collio Sr is doin’ better. Ms. Peach is aware you have brought an alien life form into her home.

52 I emphasized the part about the utilities bein’ marked clearly, but the dumbasses (I didn’t actually say that) did it anyway. As I said, I was very polite.

Cookie hope the lunch was as tasty as it sounds.

doggio poor Spot! Not only is he about to starve, he must also endure the world’s worst hot tub!

JtC I shall reiterate what others have said. Do come in here and vent. It helps to have a place to do that.

Yes, perfectly fine. As a matter of fact, when I read your previous whining post, I laughed because I knew that whining was exactly what you were doing. I know that when you are back in the saddle, so to speak, that you’re going to look back and kinda laugh yourself.

almost like you’re celebrating the 4th of July. [ducks]

Well, it’s now after 7pm EDT so swampy I’m hoping you have your intartoobz back. [now I see that you do] Did you have an opportunity to give the cable company a piece of your mind? [now I see that you gave them a polite piece of your mind :slightly_smiling_face: ]

a few years back, actually it was 2017, man seems like only 3 yrs ago, I hiked the AT through all of Maryland, Harpers Ferry to the Mason-Dixon line. I remember a particular field that was totally covered in foxglove and it was so beautiful.

taters exciting news that your daughter and grandchildren are coming to visit!

or text her pictures. This is what I did when I went to buy an outfit for my Dad’s viewing, funeral mass & wake, and burial (3 separate days). I’m not the best at clothes shopping so I had the salesclerk take pics of me in about 6 different outfits, texted them to my daughter and her wasband, and they gave good feedback. I was very happy with the outfit they liked best; it was a pantsuit and I bought 2 different shells to wear with it. I still wear it 12 years later for some appropriate occasions. Now my brother was not happy with it because I wanted white (the jacket was white and the pants were black) because I thought we should be celebrating Dad’s life and his afterlife.

4th day of work again this week. But I got the beginning of the fiscal year tasks completed and can now relax until next Monday. Haven’t mentioned it but we in SE Mitten have been under the heat dome since Tuesday morning, meaning lows in the low 80’s and highs in the upper 90’s, and it’s not supposed to break until tomorrow evening. I’ve been driving to work every day and staying pretty much indoors the rest of the time.

Today Hubs wanted to go to the museum so we went to see the Fabric exhibit (interesting that many of the pieces were donated by the American Textile History Museum which used to be in Lowell, Mass where my daughter interned then worked for a year after she graduated before she went to grad school). We also watched a movie on Blue Whales in the museum auditorium then walked around looking at some of the exhibits and getting a few steps in.

I had wanted to make tuna noodle salad for dinner tonight but with everything going on and we didn’t get back from the museum until close to 4pm, we just decided to get a pizza. I asked Hubs what he ordered on it and he asked what did I think. I said Italian sausage and mushrooms and he gave the thumbs up. The Italian sausage is cause I really like it and the mushrooms are cause he really like them (I do too but can live without them). So then I sauteed some diced onions and red bell peppers to go on top while he went to pick up the pizza. Also, put some Marzetti’s dressing on some broccoli slaw salad. Had a peach for dessert.

Hubs went for a ride this morning, so I was alone when I got up, fixed my first cup of coffee and didn’t even get a sip before spilling it on my desk and killing my keyboard.

Many bad words were said.

My condolences on the loss of Buttercup.

Up from naptime. Having an Aviation for cocktails, Smoked Paprika chicken, Italian season cheesy **N.O.T.**s and asparagus with lemon pepper butter for dinner. Spot has given in to hunger, and is eating his dry, flavorless bits.

Close enough.

HUZZAH!

You underestimate the ability for Unload and the Irreg people to fuck up a wood crate(these people could wreck Captain America’s shield).

Temu All Things Great and Small

“Sod Off Ungrateful Colonials Day!”

Pouring one out for your dead homies: You’re doing it wrong. Sorry about the keyboard.

Evening all. Spent a fair amount of the afternoon at the gym, amazing how many calories you can burn on the treadmill at a slower speed but going for 50 minutes, so watched the enitre World Cup game while walking at 3.1mph. Then home, ham-n-cheesers on rye bread for calorie replacement and watched (except for the afternoon thunderstorm which interrupted service) another soccer game. The last one of the day starts at 10pm local time so don’t know if I will finish that one. Otherwise just hot and somewhat muggy, but the rain at least will make my grass happy.

Leaving a week from today for a short driving vacation, have hotels and stuff booked but haven’t really started preparations yet, need to get that written out and make sure I do stuff/pack stuff. One thing I do need is an glass strap, I plan to be on multiple rollercoasters that won’t always be right-side up…

Cookie, take care of yourself, pain is not your friend.

FCM, happy boat trip planning.

Fascinating…

doggio, the Spot stories are always a highlight for me. I always hear him in the Charles Emerson Winchester voice from MASH (been watching reruns on MeTV, has there ever been a better-written show than that?).

Mollie, condolences on Buttercups passing.

rocky, I’ve never understood why, even though it is hot outside, why indoors has to approximately October…I’m at 76F inside my house right now and am just fine. But a banana split for lunch is something I need to consider…

swampy, Hooray for the working wi-fi. And a second hooray for making your feelings known. And you never know, if enough other folks got messed with and did what you did, they might just get the message…

Knots, hope dinner was enjoyable.

Bright Tree, I’m fairly easy to amuse. Some spider solitaire, some You Tube videos, some World Cup Soccer, some gym sweating…and tempus doth fugit.

VanGO, I’m showing temps in the 90’s from my onboard system, which squares with the weather reports, but sometimes when I get in after it’s been sitting outside for a couple hours the temperature is a bit on the hotter side…As for the time off, I can sympatize, when I was working for the US Government after a few years, I was getting nearly 5 weeks of paid leave per year on a ‘use it or lose it’ basis and it was always a struggle to get it programmed. But take the time you’ve earned, the rest of the team will have to suck it up and perform.

Cat Glove, that is pretty warm for Michigan, take care now. And museums are good places to visit during a heat wave, cool and you learn things.

JtC, bad words can be your friend.

And after 9pm, so a little more internetting then soccer until I’m ready for shuteye. Catch y’all tomorrow.

OK, folks with boy dogs - how did they figure out to hike a leg to pee? Otis squats and often ends up peeing on one or both front legs. Up till now we mainly had girl dogs, so this is new critter territory for us.

And on that note, I need sleep.

Ollie was nearly 3 before he figured it out. He spends time regularly with a sweet but territorial female dog (belongs to a friend), and it was only when he got into literal pissing contests with her that he began leg lifting. He still squats about half the time at home, but when he’s out marking territory, it’s always a leg lift now.

I should mention that my last little guy, Lewis, never was a leg lifter. Didn’t pee on himself, though.

Thursday has been Date Night. Only, Mrs. L.A. likes to eat ‘dinner’ at 16:30 or so. With the new job, I don’t get home until a quarter past six. She hadn’t eaten by the time I got home. Obviously, I hadn’t either. So I announced I was making taco meat. We had taco salads (Romain lettuce, avocado dip (avocado, mayo, and garlic powder), sour cream, and shredded medium cheddar – I broiled a jalapeño in the toaster oven for mine). Rather tasty, I must say. We’re both quite full.

I was in drive-up today. I’d balanced my drawer, totalled the checks, and was coasting until the end of the day. At 17:27, three minutes before closing, I had two members come through. They both wanted money. So I had to balance my drawer all over again. I closed the vault, because I was the last one in. I was the last one to complete closing procedures. We still finished before our official clock-out time of 17:45. I’m hoping people will assume we’re closed tomorrow.

With Nelson, when I crated him during the day as a puppy, if it stormed, I would come home to a puddle beside the crate. I figured it was instinct to not pee where he slept. It took most of his first year before he lifted a leg outside though. TMI warning: he’s a lefty. :stuck_out_tongue: When we had a mastiff and a GSD a couple of doors down, they had both lifted a leg on the oak in front of my apartment. Nelson tried to leave his mark on top of theirs and hiked his leg so high that he fell over.
