Mornin’ everyone.
It’s 54F and cloudy outside. The day is expected to remain cloudy, with a daytime high of 66F.
Oopsie, I’m so sorry to read about your friend. That is indeed shocking news, and I hope there is good news about treatment options.
FCM and BooFae, I would LOVE to hire tradespeople for the painting. But hiring out painting, both indoors and outdoors, is very spendy in these parts. I am not sure what my husband intends to do about the entryway and staircase area, since it is two stories and he’s not a fan of heights. As for calling tradespeople, it’s always me who makes the calls and arrangements. I wish he’d do it, just once.
We didn’t go to the store yesterday, but we are going today. He’s pretty insistent this will be done. I would normally be all on board, but trying to do this three weeks before the kids arrive is ludicrous. And, I still need to clean the carpets before they arrive, too.
He also wants a new desk or desks for the study, new shower heads for the bathrooms, and Og knows what else. Maybe he’ll wake up a little when he sees that a five-gallon bucket of paint is 350 bucks or more (depending on the brand). Gallon buckets of premium paint run close to 50 bucks or more. Ah well, it all costs money, doesn’t it?
He doesn’t want white paint; he wants colors. I am sick of colors, although I wouldn’t mind being a little dramatic in the powder room, with maybe wainscoting on the lower half, cool wallpaper on the rest of the wall, and replacing the pedestal sink with a vanity cupboard and sink. That room is small and easy to experiment with.
As for the upstairs bathrooms (both the guest and primary suite bathrooms), I would prefer to stick as close to white as possible. Maybe a linen-type color. I dunno, I guess we’ll see today. The guest bath doesn’t have windows, so I don’t want anything to darken it. The primary suite bathroom has plenty of daylight (two windows), but again, I just don’t want to darken it.
We’ll probably go with a calming green for the bedrooms, and a more neutral tone for the hallways and living areas of the house. This helps keep things simple, too. I don’t know about all of you, but I tend to almost stress out when I see a house that changes color every few feet. It’s just too much for me. Especially if it’s a more open-concept space. I know people use color to define space, but to me, it’s chaotic.
VanGo, I’m glad your important rectangles are safe.
Mollie, yay for the next step!
I saw robins losing their ever-lovin’ minds yesterday. There was lots of chirping and flying back and forth through the trees and back to the apple tree behind my yard. It went on for quite some time, and I couldn’t figure out what was going on. I thought at first that maybe a hawk was nearby. Finally, I saw a crow erupt from the apple tree. I think the crow killed baby birds or ate eggs. I know there was a nest in there because I saw robins constantly flying in and out that tree. It’s sad, but nature is cruel.
Also, a BIG bun has been visiting my yard the last few days. Yesterday, he (she?) was hopping around in my big raised planters.
Alrighty, I guess I’d best shower and get ready to pick out paint colors and supplies.
Please take care of yourselves.
