OK, I’ve really been looking forward to seeing this film, so have taken great pains to read as little about the plot or characters or sequels or anything as possible, so I’m hoping someone can answer my question without spoiling anything. Much appreciated.
I’ve heard it’s a good film, and am interested in taking my wife to see it (because otherwise, finding the time to do so solo is difficult). She doesn’t have any problem with most acts of violence in films, but she doesn’t like to see acts or depictions of rape. Having a film address or suggest a rape is within her limits, but nothing that shows the act itself. One of the few things I did hear about the story is that there is a rape…possibly in the book. Is it in the movie? If so, is it graphic or more between-the-lines? If there’s a similar scene in another movie that makes a good comparison, what might it be? She enjoys a good film, but I don’t want to ruin the experience for her if something like that breaks her out of her comfort zone.
