The Good Place [edited title]

Michael’s Australian accent was not the worst there’s ever been, but it was far from good. The exchange with Janet was, of course, an acknowledgement of that.

As I said, all the Australians were played by British actors, and ironically the one who played the British assistant to Tahani was actually a genuinely Australian actor.

Has anyone heard the ‘Wizard of Oz’ theory of this show?

Chidi is the cowardly lion, who is afraid to make decisions and needs courage.

Tahani is the Tin Man, who needs a heart.

Jason is the scarecrow, who needs a brain.

Eleanor is Dorothy.

Michael is the wizard of Oz.

Janet is Glinda, the good witch.

I doubt that this was the plan, but it does fit fairly well, even if unintentional.

Did anyone else catch the name of the muffin place? “Crumb from a land down under.”

I don’t always catch these puns, but they’re so bad they circle back to being hilarious.

Ah, it’s good to see that week-smoking Kristen Bell back for another season!

(Incidently, in case you haven’t heard, they’ve just announced a new season of Veronica Mars…can’t wait!)

I giggled at this, and at so much. Why can’t all shows be this good?

Even better were the cover blurb quotes for Tahani’s book:

“This book is so brilliant I’ve decided to quit writing because I’ll never top it.” - Malcolm Gladwell

“Ditto” - Cormac McCarthy

So they really are back on Earth, not in a simulation. I liked seeing the flashbacks to the other 3’s year since their deaths were reversed. I wonder if we’ll see Trevor’s (fake) flashbacks. Speaking of Trevor just how did he get past the Doorman and back to Earth?

The doorman drew so much attention to that key (made from the “first atoms in the universe”) that it’s obvious that Michael or one of the humans will be stealing it at some point.

I can’t imagine the Bad Place is short on frogs, with which one can offer bribes.

Remind me, what does the Cocoon do again?

“It is gooey in there.”

Sean called it a defense against emotion in season one but since then he’s only used it as a punishment.

Well, now we know why all the other sitcoms are crap- this show hired ALL the good writers.

That was just torture BS.

Does fit fairly well. Now can we set it to the Dark Side of the Moon?

The Pigeons!!

Tahani does not have to reconcile with Kamila, but Kamila is still in the picture so I expect there will be further developments with her. It was interesting that Kamila was almost immediately willing to accept the crowd’s adoration and approval for saving Tahina’s life, when it was clear she had nothing to do with saving her. So Kamila is not as good a person as we have been told, and has her own things going on. Who knows, maybe she is jealous of Tahini?

I never got the impression that we were supposed to think Kamila was a good person. She’s just a big ole narcissist.

A good Tahini is difficult to come by.

Yes, but she seems to be an annoyingly talented narcissist, i.e. she’s wildly popular and can back it up with genuine skills.

People like that suck.

Absolutely true, but absurdly good at art and music doesn’t appear to have a point value.
