The Google ads do seem to be a bit more relevant these days.
Seven’s Anniversary thread brings us four ads for sites filled with wedding toasts, and the infamous “Hal Briston Sheep Sex Thread” has three fairly-relevant ads: two selling sheep placenta, and one selling goat placenta.
I’ve noticed that as well. I’ve also found myself zipping to the bottom of some odd thread just to see what GoogleBot made of it.
Sometimes the results are pretty funny.
It seems like if it isn’t sure what to do with the thread you get mailing lists (check out the “answer a question with a question” thread) and if it’s adult related (like “what do ladies think of boners”) it offers Katrina relief.
On the other hand the Insomnia thread offered three adverts for Insomnia treatment and one for some Oprah related thing.
Of course, nothing is going to top the pitting of the asshat who doused his ex with gasoline and set her ablaze. One of the google ads was for the Man On Fire DVD. :smack:
Um, sorry for semi-hijacking the thread but I’ve got a row of wedding ads (why weddings?) and one of them is a speech generator: http://speeches.com/index.aspx This is just too awesome
Wedding speeches??? What in the name of Sam Hill is going on with Google Ads? Wow! The question is, can we get it to link with the page which was giving goat ads and get weddings with goats?
