The Governator wins!

Minor nitpick: It’s Sudetenland.

Q

My comments are very petty, but according to IMDB, Arnie still has a couple of movies in some stage of production. But I suppose he will not act while he’s governor. And does Arnold serve a full term, or will he just finish Davis’ vacated term? I imagine if he manages to serve two full terms he will be in his mid 60’s when he can act again.

In fact, given what should be a rather busy schedule as governor he probably cannot keep up his lifting routine (he already looks a lot leaner these days). Of course an ‘out of shape’ and ‘old’ Arnold Schwarzenegger is still more toned than 98% of us.

I wouldn’t say he was one of the great actors of all time, but he is certainly one of the great movie stars, and perhaps that career has ended tonight.

I’m watching Davis’ concession speech. I guess that’s it folks.

Long live the Governator! YAY

Kathy

What did it for you? His spotless past? His detailed policy papers? His vast experience in politics?

Well, this IS why I asked why people thought Arnold was best for the job, even if it was hijacked for a while. Some answers, still mulling over how convinced I am by them, but enlightening nonetheless.

I have friends in Kalifornia that packed up and left when it looked like it was gonna be the “Governator”, for them it was a scary thing that “a completely unqualified dufus was going to be allowed to run Kali the rest of the way into the ground” (ok, I paraphrased, shoot me). Myself, I am stunned that ANYONE actually voted for him.

unclviny

Speaking for my litle corner of California, it wasn’t so much getting someone into office as it was getting Grey Davis OUT! If ever there was someone who should have his fingertips fed to the wolverines, it’s Grey.

Don’t blame me…I voted for the porn star.

It certainly wasn’t the uninformed opinions about his character, I’ll tell you that, slythey.

Where have I shown that I have “uninformed opinions about his character”, SPOOFE?

What would be cool is if heactually does a good job and we tresursect this thread and point and laugh at all the nay saysers.

Prolly won’t happen but how can Kaliforina be any more messed up?

Arianna? Or Gary Coleman?

Than. What. Was. It?
He has a very spotty past(drugs and sex wise), no political history and no detailed plans for the state. On what basis would anyone vote for him?

What a fucking joke. <sigh> At least 54 lost.

Padeye, do not scare me like that! I thought you were saying that, on top of the election and the pennant race, the Onion was going out of business! Took me three reads before I realized you’d said “Now this…theonion…”, not “Now theonion…” :smack:

Despite all the hoopla the media tries to turn a coin off of, merely “spotty” histories have never been a true disqualifier for an American politician.

I’d bet if Arnie ever smoked pot, he’d inhale.

And admit to it.

Well 42% of the precincts in, it’s a total landslide (56% say Davis sucks, and 50% say go Arnold), Davis has conceded and Arnold is giving his speech. And I for one am very optomistic about the future of our great state.

I’m a bit disappointed in McClintock who insisted in staying to the bitter end, but whatever.

Happy day!

Hell, I already respect Arnold as a politician.

He wouldn’t even hesitate to tell the truth about a blowjob, and he certainly wouldn’t lie under oath about it.

I’m a bus driver. As the guys reported for work, we discussed how we voted. As best I can tell, it was 100% Arnold.

For me, it was the last minute mud slinging that turned me to vote for Arnie. I had planned to vote for Tom.

Ringo, there’s no need to go all hypothetical.

For the record, his potsmoking doesn’t effect my opinion one way or the other.

Arianna Huffington had a great line of The Daily Show tonight. “He’ll certainly be a hands-on governor.”

Priceless.
