This post has been quoted by the guy who knows that the only time the third item on the list is “Hi Opal” is when the list consists of exactly three items! This dates back to a contention by Opal that two items do not constitute a list, which led people who were listing two things to include “3) Hi Opal!” as item three to satisfy her requirement. It later was corrupted into making an Opal reference the third item regardless of the overall length of the list.
This explanation was explained by someone describing himself with a word that he isn’t sure exists, the Pedanticist!
A real Pedanticist would look it up.
