The Great Dope Post Card Exchange

Uh, not me. I’m not from the Michigan Duluth, and my (home-made) postcard was of Stone Mountain, GA.

Unless my Evil Twin ™ in the northern Duluth is messing with me.

Oh, wait a minute – I forgot about the 12 store-bought cards I purchased! Yours was probably one of those. Doh!! Sorry!! <dopeslaps self>

But it’s still the Duluth in the south, not the Duluth in Minnesota.

I know it’s Sunday but dammit, everybody go out and check their mailboxes. Maybe mines stuck to the top or something. It’s been a full 7 days!

Stern, You’re not on my list but I sent out as big a variation as I could. I’m from Philly so anyone who lived close to me got a picture of the valley forge battlefield instead (because people near Philly hate philly).
nocturnal tick , It just occured to me today that my stickperson was discovering electricty BECAUSE I’m from Philly (Ben Franklin). Holy Hell, I can be dense!

While rooting through the mail for bills to pay, I found a Terminator card sent by Screech-Owl . Thanks, and sorry I missed it when I reported the others.

Another thanks going out to Tastes of Chocolate.

Also to Rooves, (and everyone else, but mostly Rooves) I honestly chose my cards at random because I didn’t want to pick and choose between you all. What a good coincedence though, huh? I’ll take credit for it if you want.

For that reason, ToC what one did I send you again? I was wondering what you hope was not from personal experience.

Oh, yeah, I knew that. I just thought it was funny to get a symbol of Dutch culture from the South when I pretty much live in Dutch Central in the Midwest!

Took me a while, but I’ve finally put my cards in the mail. Y’all should be getting some lovely scenes from Boston in the next few days.

So far I’ve got cards from Archergal, Lok, dbygawdcapn, jackelope, and Bambi Hassenpfeffer. I haven’t checked my mail in kind of a long time, so I’m sure there are plenty more goodies waiting for me. Excellent cards, people.

I just replied to several doper emails.

You have just reminded me misstee that I have given you a hearty thankyou for starting this whole exchange. So from nocturnal_tick
(((( BIG HUG ))))

Cheers!

Another Thank You to misstee for organizing this. I have received cards from

roxx222
Chicago Faucet
GorillaMan
screech owl
lok
torie
Cowgirl Jules
MsRobyn
archergal
Hugh Jass
Bambi Hassenpfeffer

Thanks to all, including anyone who sent one that hasn’t arrived yet. I have been using my cards to wallpaper around the splash guard in my kitchen.

In today’s mail, Tanookie and her castle!

rox222, fear not! I got your card today. I’ve never had a bilingual postmark before. Nor have I ever received a postcard with a trilingual caption. I’m so used to seeing Spanish down here, but never French – even with all the Canadian visitors.

Montréal looks stunning, and I promise to make your crêpes recipe sometime soon.

One today from Rodd Hill. I guess we can tell how they entertained themselves on Saturday nights. :stuck_out_tongue:

Lok

Up to now, I got cards from

aankh
Archergal
Bambi Hasenpfeffer
dbygawdcapn
Elenia25
Hugh Jass
Lok
nocturnal_tick
Rooves
screech-owl
… and my mum.
Thank you very much, this is fun.

At the moment, I haven’t got the time to do the scans, though — next week maybe. Same goes for individual answers to your cards, sorry.

WooHoo! Somebody got a card from me!

Archergal - Archie’s Barn, Duluth GA. She says it’s historic.

Ashkicker - Gatlinburg TN at night, with sort of a green glow, as if it were radioactive.

Bambi Hassenpfeffer - beautiful St.Petersburg. For anyone else who’s wondered about my username… “laina” (nickname for Elaine) + “f” (1st letter of last name).

dbygawdcapn - “We trekka to Mecca”. Beyond a doubt, the strangest card I got.

Hugh Jass - Austin, TX. I lived there for 8 years, and I miss it. Every spring I say I’m going back to see the bluebonnets, but so far I haven’t.

libwen - a robin, the Michigan state bird. The state bird of Mississippi is not the robin, but oddly enough our state soil is also kalkaska.*

Low Key - Göteborg. Actually, I did know who Carl von Linné was.

quiltguy154 - Amish Shadow quilt (very psychadelic). I read your card to a 7-yr-old neighbor boy. He wanted to know what “bucolic” meant. I said, “Sort of country-like, with trees and plants, peaceful.” He started shrieking, “THAT’S NOT WHAT IT MEANS! THAT’S NOT WHAT IT MEANS!” Very weird kid.

Ravenous Lady - manatees (very cute). And, no, so far I haven’t received statebird=mosquito cards from Florida or anywhere else.

Sternvogel - Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwate.

I also got a card (unsigned) from Islands of Adventure.
*probably not really

I just wanted to apologize for being late getting my cards out.
It turns out the postcards are hard to find when one lives in the middle of nowhere. And since I’ve been in the process of moving, I haven’t had much time to find some sort of postcard worthy attraction (who am I kidding, there are no attractions here) and search some out.
I promise to range farther afield this weekend, and locate some.

However I have very much enjoyed the cards I have received so far. Doper postcards are the first mail I’ve received at my new house.

First guess: The Incredible Hulk at Islands of Adventure.
Second guess: Kumba at Busch Gardens.
Am I right?

I’ve sent out my cards. I thought they would have arrived by now. :frowning:

I’d wager thta it’s from screech-owl.
