The Great Dope Post Card Exchange

Ok, I’ve got lots of cards now. Very exciting to get some mail!

My first one: from Libwen in Michigan. I don’t know about tasting good, circumspice just reminds me of a certain procedure affecting males. Maybe the removed part is spicy? Ewww.

Second one was from Rodd Hill. Of a typical Canadian family no doubt? :stuck_out_tongue: I’m interested in the stamp, it has two sections but only one has the price on? Do you guys just add an extra bit to make them look prettier?

Then one arrived from Cowgirl Jules. I can’t say I had any preconceived views of central California! The San Joaquin valley doesn’t look a whole lot different from our crop farming country, except near where I am there are mountains in the distance. It’s very flat where you are isn’t it?

Next was another one from California, from jkusters. The card did brighten my day very much, thankyou! I like the pretty colours too! Hee! I’ve actually been to San Diego, but only for a day, and only to Sea World. Sad, huh? I was only six, though, and six year olds are all about theme parks.

Last (so far!) was from Lok. If you come to Brisbane on your next trip, you have yourself a tour guide. It is certainly worth at least a day’s sightseeing. By the way, pretty cool library. It looks like a church!

Anyway… Thanks everyone for the cards! It’s been really fun.

I’m not usually a smiley fiend, but I’m having fun ok?

I am planning on hitting Brisbane and points north on my next trip, but unfortunately it will be a few years before I can do that. :frowning:

Lok

Glad to hear that my card finally arrived, Burnt Sugar!

I’d say that the family was due to the cold winter nights, but they (and I) live in Canada’s banana belt, where it doesn’t even snow very often!

The stamp was a commemorative special issue for Danish explorer Otto Sverdrup, whose ship Fram appears on the stamp. The extra portrait was just for looks, I guess.

Hey nocturnal_tick
The picture looks like a bad day bungee jumping for stickman.
If I’m looking at it right, stickman is about to discover what happens when your bungee cord breaks after you have jumped off the bridge.
(Sorry it took so long to answer you. Every time I started to write a response, someone expected me to do some work.)

I am a bit behind. In the last week or so I have received cards from:

aankh: Yep! I am a geology geek and Las Vegas Nevada is in a “triple point” of three deserts Great Basin, Mojave (mo-hav-vee), and the Sonoran.

libwen: I like the lighthouses we dont have stuff like that here, just flashy casinos

Max Carnage:Nashville and the Batman building, that made me laugh!

Handmelder: Lovely view of the New Mexico desert.

Spurious George: Very creative postcard!! Homemade  I think Ill put it on the 'fridge…

bittersweet:Another Fla Doper and a great pic of downtown(?) Tampa

avarie537: I dont think Nevada was a state at the time Indianapolis became the capital of Indiana  I love old buildings

amarinth:Yay! Seattle at sunset.

Irreverent Tone: Risky business for those birds living in those cacti… another pretty sunset… I love sunsets in the West…

laina-f: I was excited to see a geologic map as a postcard. Was this a coincidence or deliberate (I am a geologist by trade) The newspaper story was funny

Thats al for now but I am scanning the postcards I get and putting them in a online photo album. I will post a link later

B

Received today:
liirogue: the OKC memorial

Happy mail!

Got some more this week!
(I just got my name changed from roxx222 to Antigen - sorry if that’s a bit confusing!)

Ravenous Lady - I want a manatee! They’re so adorable!

libwen - Beautiful view of the Grand Canyon in black and white. And yup, I’m originally from Montreal. Been here all my life. But with all these amazing postcards, I think I’m going to have to start travelling!

2 more today!

Irreverent Tone, Cool pictures of Arizona. I want to see some saguros live some time.

avarie537, An inside shot of the Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum. Looks like a fun place to wander around.

Lok

I’ve had that postcard since I lived in Texas, which was 15 years ago. I was thrilled when I saw LVgeogeek on the postcard exchange list. Of course, you could’ve turned out to be a geography geek or a geometry geek, or even an aficianado of the geoduck, which is large edible clam of the Pacific coast that sometimes weighs over five pounds.

Oohhhhhhhhhh, that one. hehehehehe.

Oops, almost forgot.

Some more from Avarie537,Handmelder and Spurious George. Thankyou so much, it still hasn’t become dull getting these postcards through. You can definitely count me in for next time round.

I don’t have all of mine with me, but I have to say I’m amazed that I’ve received close to 20 cards despite the fact that each of them (except one) has the wrong zip code. It should be 37— not 87—. I just wanted to give a big shout out to the good people at the USPS for not relying on their new fangled computers to sort the mail! Sal-looooot!

A couple of new ones today!
Rez - Alabama at night, ha ha!

Avarie537 - Museum of American Indians and Western Art. But it’s the stamps I really love! They’re awesome!

Thankyou amarinth for the Seattle skyline. I love your handwriting but I’ll be darned if I could read it the first time I saw it. :stuck_out_tongue:

p.s. Yay for smilies   ;j  :wally :smack: :o  :dubious:   :stuck_out_tongue:   :frowning:

All the colours of the rainbow!

A couple of new ones today from Avarie537 and liirogue. Thank you!

I’ve been out of town for a few days, so haven’t been here.
I’m so glad mine are finally arriving.
Today when I got home I had 5 more Stevrnvogel laina f (you’ll be getting one back. I was there then too.) Irreverent Tome ** Avarie537** & pasunejen (the last one might be spelled wrong since the PO saw fit to put a big smudge there.)

:smack: Sorry laina f I’m not sure what I did, but I know the paranthetical phrase isn’t part of your name.

I went to the mail today and got 3 more cards.

Avarie537 : Beautiful nightime picture of Indianapolis
Rodd Hill : Sergeant Buxton and one very large family
Irreverent Tone : Superstition Mountain

Thanks once again. The postcards really brightened my day.

Huge haul of cards from around the world!! Thank you one and all! I’m sorry I couldn’t acknowledge receipt earlier…was a tad busy with exams and suchlike. Anyway, responses follow in no particular order…

Averie537 - Loved that totem pole (is that what they’re called?) outside the museum.

Tastes of Chocolate - Dr.Seuss stamps!! Whee!

Rooves - Sorry about the long address. Not my fault!! Blame Singapore.

Archergal - If Gwinnett County has so many bean-eaters, isn’t the atmosphere rather noxious?

Bambi Hassenpfeffer - If your preferences didn’t lean otherwise, I would propose marriage to you simply on strength of that name!

Casey1505 - Greetings to you too! Gorgeous fall foliage on the card.
