The Great English/Geography Postcard Project (AKA: help me, dopers of the world!)

So, what’s the time frame for this? When do you need stuff sent out by?

You gotta have one of the WTC from NYC.

If I write “Contrary to popular belief, Rhode Island is a STATE, not a unit of measure”, will you be able to translate that to Bulgarian for them?

Be careful of that techiene.

Am sending a postcard of a cable car with Alcatraz Island in the background. I’ll leave it to your discretion if you want encourage your students to watch The Rock or any of the Dirty Harry movies.

if this gets made into a movie, can I pick who plays me?

email sent…

I didn’t get a chance to post earlier but I’ll send one from Albany, NY.

Email sent for cards from Toronto, the city with the tall pointy thing!

Over a hundred languages are spoken in Toronto, including Bulgarian.

Way cool project! I’ll be sending one from Houston, Texas. Maybe a pic of an oil well, or a longhorn steer…

Expect one from Auckland. Email sent.

Email sent. I’ll either be providing the geology or the marvelous history of aerospace technology from the fabulous Antelope Valley of SoCal.

I am so excited. So far I have postcards coming from at least six countries! But none from Asia or Africa - and I know there are Dopers on those continents.

Got your email!

The address doesn’t have to be in Cyrillic, does it? I’ve never addressed anything to a Cyrillic-using country before.

Nope, Latin is fine.

Did I mention I live in a small town? I’m pretty sure the postal workers see Latin script and just set it aside for me.

I’d ask if postcards of topless women were acceptable but they stopped selling those in the 90s.

Such decisions to make…which view of glorious Cleveland to send…

Hey, I’ve been to Cleveland. It’s a nice city! Far better than the endless billboards advertising strip clubs of Columbus, anyway.

Any Longhorn pictures should be sent from up here in Austin. If Longhorns are already taken I’ll have to send a picture of the Pennybacker bridge and, let’s face it, the kids won’t be excited by the Pennybacker bridge.

One heading your way from the Rubber City!
(I know it’s awfully close to Cleveland, but it’s a great postcard - 3 blimps over the city.)

I’ll see if I can find one from The Woodlands or Conroe, which are both small towns (well, The Woodlands is a planned community, but it’s a rather fine distinction) north of Houston, TX.

Emailing you now for the address for a postcard of beautiful Alabama.
