When or where does a beehive ever look like the ones in this thread?
I think I just answered my question by looking at the wiki page for beehive and I found mention of a “bee skep” and that indeed looks like what is in this thread. Skeps were baskets that were turned upside down.
I get mocked for the time we were driving through the countryside and I asked if those white buildings were sleeping quarters for migrant workers. So now, when we see bee boxes, “oh look, migrant workers” (which, in fact, they are).
While we’re replacing boring state flags, Vermont’s seal-on-a-blanket should be replaced by this historic banner, which is already the battle flag of the Vermont National Guard:
Wasn’t there some right wing pundit who got bent out of shape back in 2008 when Obama was campaigning in Ohio, and the stage had all these Ohio “O” flags? He thought Obama was flying his own personal flag?
The Zia on the New Mexico flag is the sacred symbol of Zia Pueblo. It’s the Pueblo equivalent of an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The state has been sued by the Pueblo.
On a high school tour of the state capitol in Salem, the tour guide was showing us the large bronze state seal in the rotunda floor. Naturally, I asked, “If that is the seal, where are its flippers?” Well trained, she responded, “I don’t know about its flippers, but,” pointing to the douglas firs depicted on the side, “there’s its bark.”
His North Carolina ranking is totally biased. You shouldn’t get around the “putting your name on the flag is an automatic fail” by using the initials instead. Doesn’t deserve more than an FB if he was being fair.
