The Great Summer 2022 Doper Postcard Exchange!

I dropped my postcards in the mailbox today.

My cards on on their way to the lucky(?) recipients.

My international postcards are now in the mail. I am surprised that USPS is still using international stamps that look like a big ol’ coronavirus!

Save travels, little postcards!

My postcards are in the mail.

As are mine!

I’m going to send out my three postcards on Sunday, but I got my first one, from @dbygawdcapn, today! So what do I do? Do I read it off in here?

No need for the messaging, but a description of the card is always nice.

It has a picture of a woman, and a dog-like beast is talking to her.

“You say ‘potato,’ I say ‘grrr, rr, uff!’ You say ‘tomato’, I say ‘roooff!’”

The card came from Southern Maryland, and the message talks about crab fishing. Shel Silverstein stamp. Thank you, @dbygawdcapn ! I’ll cherish this.

After much drama at our very rural post office, the international stamps were found locked in a drawer in the back office and I was able to purchase one. The post card stamps were simple, they still had last year’s partial sheet up front.

I suspect I’m the only person they ever see who actually mails postcards. It’s OK, though. They need the practice in case they ever transfer to the big city!

Mine are going out Tuesday

Thanks. Remember Rule 7!

Postcardy goodness has arrived in my mailbox: on the front: a concept sketch of a Star Wars character, and on the back: a Star Wars joke! Thanks, @silenus!

Ah you bloody Americans and the need for instant gratification! :upside_down_face:

Alas in this philatelic arms race in conceding both a hemisphere head start and coinciding with fiscal year, for those on my list I can only counsel patience.

Probably will be in the post on Monday.

I too got a concept sketch of a Star Wars character postcard from Silenus. It’s very cool! Thanks!

My postcards went out today.
They may well be the first cards mailed for the 2034 SDMB Postcard Exchange!

Consigned!

At the beginning of 2022, Switzerland raised the prices for postage, which means I always have the wrong postage.

I have received my first postcard, from the center of the Swiss universe, where @Anaglyph lives. It’s a panoramic 3D view from the north, which is a fascinating viewpoint, as I’m always looking at maps from the opposite direction.

My own postcards have been placed in the yellow box, and I’ve ordered more stamps.

I’m part of that group as one of the two Americans in it.

I’m the second member of the Swiss group - I actually put too much postage on to use up the old stamps I have rather than buying new ones.

Understandable.
