What’s pissing me off about Fox is that they are starting to report “furor” and “thrown a wrench into” when they FIRST REPORT THIS STUFF. There can’t be a furor, nor can a wrench be thrown into a campaign, before a news story is seen by the public.
That being said, Palmieri’s memo is a load of BS that I don’t think is going to comfort very many of Clinton’s big money supporters.
Which officials are saying that?
Hillary is totally forked. I was at the Bernie Sanders rally in Los Angeles. I’ve never seen anything like that, not even for Obama. I’m watching long threads of Republicans saying they will or have changed their registration to Democrat so they can vote for Bernie; the Nader people adore him; Veterans love him like nobody’s business (he has sat on the Veterans Affairs Committee for more than 10 years, twice being its chairman), even ones who voted for Bush twice. People – especially young people – are talking about him everywhere I go. His message was heard by more than 100,000 people over the past four days. Excited and enthusiastic people.
Where has Hillary been? She’s not even bothering to campaign; she’s out doing fundraisers. And the DNC are covering for her, limiting the debates to six and not even starting them until October. On top of that, they made all the candidates sign an exclusivity deal that prohibits them from participating in any debates not sanctioned by them if the candidate wants to run on the Democratic ticket. It’s a cowardly move and exactly the kind of political gamesmanship voters are frankly sick to death of.
Friends who started as Hillary supporters are coming around to Bernie. Fence-sitters are leaning more toward or have fallen on the side of Bernie. They aren’t breaking for her. And the more she hides while he’s out there drawing crowds in the tens of thousands – including places that Democrats have always overlooked – the further and further behind she’s going to sink.
She’s forked. She’s toast. She’s history. Bernie Sanders is the new America. Get over it, establishment, we’re here to stay.
And by the way, the Republican party is dead, too.
Read the link he posted.
Shayna, I think you’re being over optimistic, but I’m enjoying the dream and would love to see you proved right.
I’d love to see a President Sanders, but I don’t think the ruling class would allow it to happen. He is simply too big a threat to the established order and they would find a way to disallow his presidency.
How would that work, Bob? Do you simply mean “they” would find a way to make sure Clinton wins the nomination, or do you have something else in mind?
I think they’d hire a gun if that’s what it took. These people are not about to give up all that money and power.
Got any names for “those people”?
Wall Street, corporate America. If Sanders looks like he might get the nomination, they’re going to gin up all the hate they can “OMG! Socialist!” but if he gets it and it looks like he might win, I certainly hope the Secret Service is up to the task. Obama may have drawn a lot of hate for his race, but he was quite friendly to Wall Street and they didn’t see him as a threat.
Just a thought here: It, uh, may be helpful to spend a bit less time on the Internet, friend. Just sayin’.
Whereas I work with a whole lot of Democrats and no one has even mentioned him.
Perhaps, and we are getting a bit off topic here.
Back to Hillary- one gets the impression that she isn’t working it. A speech every few weeks, no big rallies, what’s going on? I’m afraid she’s falling for the same inevitability trap that she did in 2008.
She’s following that ancient rule of campaigning, never to interfere when your opponents are shooting themselves in the foot. There’s no reason for her to draw attention away from the GOP’s efforts to delegitimize itself in the minds of the swing voters.
To me it looks like she’s spiking the ball at her own 20. I’m certainly get the vibe that she feels entitled to the nomination and doesn’t seem interested in competing for it. Joe Biden seems to be eyeing a cracked open door.
Are you under the impression that the election is this year?
It’s so early. Hillary doesn’t need to be doing anything right now. There’s no reason to worry about that kind of thing right now.
She’s doing what she should be doing right now. Lining up donors and building infrastructure so that when the time comes, she can launch her full-on “vote for me” campaign.
Hillary is playing Apollo Creed to Sanders’ Rocky. At some point her people have to tell her that Sanders doesn’t know it’s a joke, he thinks it’s a fight. When you have a guy filling stadiums and generating buzz and you’re just cashing checks, you’re handicapping yourself. If she wants it, she better act like she wants to earn it and not inherit it.
