The greatest mullets of movie history

Tele 5 is a German TV channel that plays 5 percent real cult movies, 20 percent movies that are so bad they’re really good and 75 percent real honestly bad movies. But tonight they had a real run with three movies of the second category: Explorers (1985), The Blob (1988 Remake, a really GREAT splatter movie) and They Live (1988) now running. Now in Explorers, the kid who was NOT River Phoenix (who of course wore thick glasses because he’s the nerd, wink wink) or Ethan Hawke had a respectable mullet, but that was topped by Kevin Dillon in The Blob, who sported an impressionable mat of hair. But what can I tell you, all that got wiped out by Roddy Piper in They Live!!!

I suspect that almost every response will be from around 1985-92, but I would especially welcome examples from other times. Keep the mullets coming!

There can be only one!

I always think Kevin Sorbo, but I don’t want to look it up to see if that’s right (not without financial incentive).

I apparently don’t get to see that, but I always think of Joe Dirt.

Thats pronounced Der-tey thank you.

Yeah, nice hair, but that is parody. I rather meant mullets appearing as totally in conformity with the fashion of the times, like my examples.

TV rather than a movie, but MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson) totally rocked the mullet.

That was post #2.

Wayne’s World

Any movie with Don Swayze.

They may take our lives, but they’ll never take… OUR MULLETS!

Another TV and not movie, but Danny McBride in Eastbound and Down.

The most popular streamer sports a (wigged) mullet. :astonished:

Post 2 is a broken link to an image…

If concert films qualify, here is Bono on U2: Live at Red Rocks (1983)

Lost Boys. Kiefer Sutherland has quite an impressive mullet, as do a couple of others.

Strange, the link works fine for me.

Mel Gibson had an impressive mullet in Lethal Weapon. It’s more of the “Camaro” variant than “Mississippi Mudflap”.

Both Cher and Meryl sported mullets for their characters in Silkwood. Interestingly enough, Kurt Russell, who was also in the movie, had one IRL but not for this movie.

Randall Flagg in The Stand 1994
