The greatest thrill ride

I’d like to know what everyone thinks is the greatest thrill ride they’ve been on. I’ve been on a lot of roller coasters and other rides across the country but for the best “Thrill” I think it is riding the “Big Shot” at night on top of the Stratosphere Tower in Vegas.

What other rides have you been on that have a killer “thrill” even if it’s just a part of a ride?

(Must be a “ride”. No parachuting, rafting, cliff diving, etc.)

If you haven’t ridden the Millenium Force at Cedar Point (Sandusky, OH), you haven’t lived. 300 ft hill, 80 degree drop, 92 mph. Oh, yeah, and no over-the-shoulder harness – just a lap harness! (don’t worry – G-forces will keep you in on the turns that bank past 90 degrees.)

Those up-n-down rides are kind of blah in my opinion. Scary in a boring way, if that makes any sense.

I’ve been to virtually every major US theme park, but my favorites all reside at Disney World.

Tower of Terror, Mission: Space and Rockin’ Roller Coaster are at the top of their game. It’s not just the ride either, but the theming and attention to detail.

Rockin Roller Coaster shoots you 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, while Aerosmith blasts in the background. Fucking awesome.

Hello Again, have you seen Cedar Point’s new ride, Top Thrill Dragster?

420 feet.
120 mph.
1/2 mile of track (not that much, considering 840 of it is straight up and down).
90 degree ascent.
90 degree descent.
270 degree twist on descent.

I haven’t been yet, but I most certainly plan to within a year.

I haven’t done the Dragster or Millenium yet, but I will next week!

As far as rollercoasters go, Cedar Point about bitch slaps the rest of the parks

I heard Top Thrill Dragster was shut down for safety concerns, and if they don’t remedy the problem, it won’t reopen, period. I think the problem dealt with the coaster not making it over the first hill due to weather.

For my money it’s Acrophobia at Six Flags over Georgia. Sit upright, legs dangling in space, only a padded shoulder harness holding you in place. Go straight up, slowly, over 200 feet. At the top the chair tilts out 15 degrees. You’re looking straight down. Then drop. Free fall. I’m not scared of heights and that ride pushed the envelope for me. I’m not sure exactly why. Other freefall type rides don’t do a thing for me. It must be a combination of dangling feet and the face first tilt. I know many thrill ride enthusiasts who won’t go near this thing.

My old lady.

And that’s no joke.
