You’re welcome to discuss the poem, Amber in Treasury, but posting a copyrighted piece in its entirety can violate copyright. Please just post a few lines and link to the remainder of the poem.
I’ve gone ahead and removed all but a few lines of the poem.
I am the author of the poem. And it is my own name at the end. You can verify that.
Alright, can I post my poem now?
Darn, I really want to read it… please? Can she?
Sure, if it’s your poem, go right ahead. We’re all about supporting our Doper authors and other artists.
I drink myself out
Out of the grey and grime
Out of the bullshit and lies
Down that bottle
A brighter light shines
I drink myself out of the ugly
Right into the beauty
I stumble
I fly
Right into your world
And fall for your voice
I fall so hard it hurts
It screams
I have to drink
The pain away
Til I wake up
To the grey

Ah. I can relate, this Friday, and cheers:
I drink myself
out of the week that passed
and all the weeks before
when I said to myself
every Monday was a new start
and every Tuesday was
the same taste
of ashes in my mouth
and the hours
and the months
that went without
doing the things I want. The things
I should.
I drink myself
because it’s Friday
or the moon is full
or the month has cycled
or it just might snow
and December be again
the magic it used to be.
I drink myself
because the grey
is all around,
and because the grey
is deep inside
and will not change.
I drink
myself
for this fragile warmth
this lifting
and ease,
looking
for that sweet, sweet spot
that rare good drunk,
and dreamless sleep.

Just so everyone is clear, we’re usually delighted to let you publicize or talk about your own work, we’re happy to support the creative arts. However, we do ask that you please ask us in advance – that helps to avoid situations like what arose above, and it allows us to regulate any “advertising.”
From the Registration Agreement:
We’ve always considered publicizing your own creative work to be a “worthy cause” but we do want advance permission.
Otherwise, we tend to be overly strict about copyrights. For our Board Rules, see: Copyrights and see further explanation in the Forum Rules (See Post #2).
Thank you, friends. I know that feeling, but you express it better than I can.
Sorry, C K-- I had been getting deeply involved with some post-work-week vodka and jumped into a ‘let’s write a poem about drinking’ theme.
I am now eyeing the vodka dubiously, and thinking about switching to a nice cup of tea next Friday night.
