The Hammering Man; a torn rotator cuff?

The sculpture The Hammering Man that lives at the Seattle Art Museum has worked his work for many years, in the rain, the snow, and bright sunshine. But yesterday, he dropped his hammer.
Apparently, the bearings in his shoulder wore out. There’s talk of putting his arm in a sling. Only in Seattle.

Remember how everyone hated when he first came to Seattle? He quickly became a downtown icon though, loved by all. Or, at least, most. I just discovered that he and his bretheren across the world even have their own fan club.

Get well soon, Hammering Man.

Oh. And just now I picked up on the sarcastic nature of the “club.” :smack:

Before he moved to Seattle, he lived in the Crystal Court in Minneapolis. I was very glad to wish him bon voyage as he set forth to his new home. I’ve never been a big fan of scrap-metal art.

Yeah, I’m a curmudgeon.

Sounds like an industrial action to me.

I have been a Hammered Man on occasion, so I can relate.
