My husband thinks hot and sour soup is a good bet when ill. I personally don’t care for the stuff, being a spice wimp who isn’t that fond of vinegar.
The Princess got very persistent about getting her breakfast, then snubbed it. Brat.
Not 100% sure I want to go to that church picnic today, since it’s supposed to be over 100F, and I don’t really enjoy heat, but DH (normally a hermit) is actually wanting to go, so we probably should. Need to figure out getting us both in gear. The whole job-hunting thing is getting discouraging.
Also having culinary woes. I’m attempting to duplicate a goodie available at a local dim sum place. I’ve managed to ID it as basically a “pearl ball” with shrimp stuff for filling instead of pork. Bought the correct rice and some prefab shrimp balls, cannot get the soaked rice to adhere to the balls.
[Butt-head]huh-huh-huh. She said shrimp balls. [/BH]
I was wondering about this 'advice’from Business Insider. Why they are offering advice on unusual take-out Chinese dishes, I don’t know, but they don’t provide a transcript (which is why I hate watching videos for anything I might actually care about), and I don’t know if it’s worth trying to figure out which ones I might like and then, pause, scribble, pause, scribble . . . Thanks (if you happen to know, I stop at the second one).
‘Tis a rainy, dreary day here in south Jawja. We have “occasional thundershowers” predicted throughout the afternoon. Thus no cee-mint pond time. No yahd mowin’ either as 'tis all wet outside. I have done some laundry so some productivity has been accomplished.
sari, the mention of Jim, Spidey, flytrap and The Full Monty all in one sentence is well…
Dear Benson…Jim and Spidey said they will take you out to a sandbar for your birthday where some fellas skinny dip to go fishing.
Something about marinating chicken in salt water, so I guess there will be a cook out, too.
Guys, check out Rosie’s very attractive picture of she and her sister on Facebook.
Two very pleasant to look at girls.
Today marks the one year passing of Aurora and our friend Gordon Cowden. If time heals all, we’ve not yet had enough. His funeral sheet sits behind me now, the one that we read and sang from during the service in Austin afterwards with his family. I see it most every day and while it’s become familiar there, it still will never be something that does not at times catch me completely off guard, questioning once again if it could really be real, if hopefully there wasn’t some mistake.
Gordon was a good kid. Younger brother to one of my favorite friends in the world, he simply was the freckle faced version of my best bud. Everyone I talked to at the funeral, his four kids, his ex, his later friends and co workers showed he’d remained just as good and honest and true as he’d ever been in the years since I’d seen him last.
I can’t begin to tell you everything good about him. Nor could any one person. But he touched so many in such a positive way. I think about this younger brother of a friend and wish for me and anyone I know to have reached his level of character and class. Gordon was a keeper, a fine person, and we miss him.
A lot of us will quietly celebrate his life today. If you know someone like Gordon, you too are truly blessed.
