I got a golden legendary and a legendary in one pack last night. Good way to end the night after a crappy arena run. Toshley and a golden Mimiron’s head.
New expansion announced, save up your gold… It’s an adventure like Naxxramas.
No free first wing this time around. 3500 gold total for cheapskates like myself. I’m glad I’ve been hoarding gold and didn’t just spend it all on packs.
Is it just me, or has the Black Mountain announcement brought out the gold farmers like crazy? I’ve lost 6 games in a row, with every opponent having at least 2 legendaries and mostly nothing less than a blue.
Sounds like normal Hearthstone to me.
First 12 win arena run! 12-2 with a Paladin (3 truesilvers, 1 consecration).I was 10 wins in before my first loss, I think it helped that I only faced 1 mage in those first 10 games.
I’m thrilled. There was nothing exciting at all in the rewards but the sense of acomplishment is huge.
I’m looking forward to the new adventure cards shaking things up in arena.
I got Prophet Velen. So I’ve got both priest legendaries. Is it good? is it worth building around a certain kind of deck with it?
Velen is all right. He’s pretty middle of the pack in terms of class legendaries. The burst damage you’re able to do with him combined with Mind Blast (2-mana Pyroblast!) is pretty impressive and definitely catches tons of people off guard since Priest is known for its limited reach.
The problem is that pretty much everyone is running Big Game Hunter for Dr Boom right now, which is also an excellent answer to Velen. Most often you’ll make the play of dropping Velen and then a single Mind Blast in one turn. A 2-card 9-mana combo that only does 10 damage isn’t too hot. Pretty much everyone knows that leaving Velen alive is basically game-ending, since the Priest will either burst for a ton or heal too much. He’s kind of like a cheaper version of Malygos, but dies to BGH. If they can’t answer Velen, you probably win the following turn.
Yeah, it’s funny about Dr. Boom - not only is he overpowered, but he changes the meta in a way that a lot of 7 and 8 attack units are collateral damage because everyone runs a counter for him. It’d be nice if more supporting type units were 6/7 or 6/8.
I have to say, I’m just a teeny bit jealous. Velen is one of the legendaries I would like for fun decks, mind blast 2 mana pyroblast so OP. But it’s just not justifiable to craft him, even if I am sitting on 1600 dust, and especially since I already have my golden priest. And I’m not even buying classic packs any more, so I literally have no chance of getting him.
But I want him so bad. =(
Plus the style points for playing Velen. Woo!
I feel bad that I gave my daughter free reign over my account (she does get the gold, though). I don’t mind losing ranks or anything, it’s that I’ve found this to be the most frustrating game to play and now I’ve passed on that on to my kid. The gold farmers with overpowered decks, the inability to express oneself, the losing, and the dickishness of the vast majority of the players makes me regret letting her (and I) play this game anymore. While the beating someone with an overpowered deck is still a great rush, I find, 9 times out of 10, the game makes her (and I) more cranky and pissed off after playing it than any other game (outside of Dark Souls, maybe) I’ve ever played. I don’t like that.
Faced a tree of life druid as my zoo/midrange demon lock. Got him down to 2 HP, pulled tree of life, everything was reset. I still had total board control with 6 low value minions and 9 cards left. Decide I can still be aggressive and life tap and press my advantage to finish it. Got him down to 2hp again. I was drawing fatigue at this point, around 20 hp. I have only a doomguard and Lord Jaraxus at this point. He had an ancient of war taunt with like 5 hp left. I decide that if I use the doomguard and he kills it next turn with wrath next turn (after I kill the ancient of war) I have no way to finish him because I have no more cards to draw. So i have to drop Jaraxxus first. That way if the doomguard died, I would still have the attack + inferno.
So I drop Jaraxxus. He drops coldseer oracle for 3+4 damage, and then youthful brewmaster, and dropped that coldseer oracle again for 5+6 damage.
So Blackrock Mountain is dropping 2/3 April. Anyone pre-ordered yet?
I preordered as soon as preorders were open, so I’ve got the new cardback, woot!
Is the new cardback exclusive to preorders? I’m not sure I’m that interested in the game anymore to spend another $25, but then I wonder if I’ll be crippled if I don’t.
I wouldn’t worry about the latter. None of the cards look very “must have” right now. The second half is being revealed today, so that might change. It isn’t very hard to just save up gold for the wings though, especially if you just snipe the wings with the best cards.
Don’t you have to buy them in the order of release?
I picked it up, mainly because I was out of the game for so long that I’m still way behind on the G&G cards. I still need the gold for opening packs and doing arena runs (to earn more packs).
I finally got a second Iron Sensei last night, so I went ahead and made a pretty typical rogue mech/oil deck and have been having some success with that. Tinker’s Oil is really a borderline broken card, especially with blade flurry.
I just watched the reveal stream and a lot of the new cards look ‘interesting’ at the very least. Reddit link to summary of new cards here. I’m not a huge deck builder but I’m betting that the cost reduction mechanics are gonna enable some crazy plays.
I do think I may want to actually learn how to play shaman now that Fireguard Destroyer exists.
Seems interesting. Gang Up also enables mill Rogue somewhat… I already have my Gold Rogue I don’t need to play Rogue any more!!! >.>
Them Clockwork Giants, tho… Prep, Vanish, BAM BAM BAM BAM oh yeeeessss
i wonder how it works. does it mean i could potentially play eight iron senseis in a game?
