Yeah, that class challenge was a big annoying shitfest even when it was new.
And the worst part is that I don’t even use avenge in my paladin deck!
Well, it’s the best Pally secret, so there is that…
(it’s not that good)
Good news! Blizzard is actually adding rewards for ranked play. Starting in August.
Golden cards may not be your thing, but you can always disenchant em for more dust. I may even stop doing all my quests in Brawl.
Two words for the current brawl: Sea Giant.
This week’s brawl is fun. Though the strategy is fairly obvious, there doesn’t seem to be any one deck that dominates its meta.
I hope Blizzard keeps away from stuff like last week’s “too many portals.” Those aren’t UNFUN, but there’s no real when you don’t have to make your own deck.
They are alternating - one week a deck that doesn’t use your existing collection, the next, build your own deck.
Another new mechanic revealed: joust.
Certain minions have an effect (can be battlecry or deathrattle) that makes a “joust” happen. Both players reveal a random minion from their deck. If the player who initiated the joust reveals a card with a higher cost, they win and the effect goes off. If they lose, no bonus.
So the “master jouster” is a 6-cost 5/6. When you play it, a joust happens. If you win, it gets taunt and divine shield.
Looks like a mechanic that will make slower decks more viable against face hunters and zoolocks.
This seems reasonable. I like the build-your-own, too, but they do present the possibility of “pay to win” bad feels. This one isn’t nearly as extreme as the ten-mana one, but having a Sylvanas and two Sea Giants is a pretty nice bonus.
I don’t even have one sea giant.
Trying to compensate with mind control techs.
So I’m not sure how prolific they are but I was playing arena this morning as mage and used an unstable portal. It gave me a card which I believe is part of the new card set. Didn’t get any of the new cards as options in my draft but it looks like unstable portal may already include the new cards.
The guy I got was a 5/8 legendary with “If opponent casts a spell, receive a duplicate of that spell and the opponent gets a coin card”. So any mage users keep your eyes opened - you may see some new stuff popping out of the portals.
Nope, that one is from the Goblins vs. Gnomes set: Trade Prince Gallywix
Ah ok. I’ve actually never seen that card before, or heard about the effect, so I assumed it was from the new set. Thanks for the clarification and apologies for the misinformation!
They might do a preview in arena like the last time though.
After hiring legend, I’ve really lost most of my drive to play hearthstone any more, but it’s still the best game to play during lunch, so eh. Is anyone preordering the new cards?
The cards revealed so far don’t look super exciting to me, but we’ll see. Maybe a steal all your stuff rogue with burgle, gang up etc? Aggro priest still looks like a no.
No, but I have been saving my gold for the last few weeks. I’m around 1100, which will be enough to keep me plenty occupied with arena for a while (and harvest some sweet new packs as a result).
I’ve been playing a variant of Enrage/Patron Warrior recently. Mine has Armani Berserkers and Gurubashi Berserkers in it as well as the usual Frothing Berserkers and Grim Patrons, meaning I’ve got more stuff to enrage and fling at the enemy than the average Grim Patron Warrior. I’m at Rank 14 so far, and I’ll see how far I can take it.
I have 16000 dust and 2200 gold ready for the expansion. I still haven’t felt the need to buy anything with real money. I’m mostly interested in not having to open any more dang 40 dust GvG packs.
I just started playing last week. I’m enjoying it so much I put it on my tablet and phone, so I can play anywhere. I’m historically terrible at CCGs, so right now I’m just going through each hero and playing against each hero in Practice mode. Once I get through all 72 wins I’ll buy some packs and try against an actual opponent.
I’m a little confused by two terms I’ve heard. Maybe you guys can help me out.
- Trade - I assume this means how may cards I have to use to defeat an opponents card? Four cards to defeat one is a bad trade. One card to defeat two or more is a good trade.
- Overload - something about reducing mana. My mana or the opponents? How much is reduced?
Trade in general just means that you are using your own minions to remove or weaken theirs (As opposed to attacking the main hero instead). The value of the trade is based on more than just the amount of cards used to remove their cards. The relative strength and the mana cost of the cards are other factors but not all.
If you play an overload card it means that you won’t have that number of mana crystals available on your next turn. It is a way to get a better card now but at the sacrifice of your next turns options.
Some Shaman cards basically split their cost over two turns. For example, Lighting Bolt is a spell that does 3 damage. Normally this would cost 2 mana (Frostbolt, Dark Bomb, Wrath, etc) but the Shaman version of this spell instead costs 1 mana this turn and 1 mana next turn. That 1 mana next turn is the Overload cost.
