The Hearthstone Thread

Last game of the month. I’ve got 2 hp left as a Warlock. I’ve got a 2/1 6/6 and 5/7 minion on the board agains a Paladin with 9 hp and en empty board. Game over if he doesn’t happen to topdeck hammer of wrath or something. He top decks a secret. Whew. It’s gotta be avenge (irrelevant) or noble sacrifice (I’ll attack with my 2/1 first)

I attack with the 2.1. Oh good, no noble sacrifice. He’s at 7hp. Okay, let’s attack with my 5/7…

Eye for an eye. I can’t remember the last time I saw that in constructed.

Or not the last game of the month. Mixed up the date. Still!

Can someone point me to, or list me, a current good Druid or Hunter constructed deck build. All of my dailies are druid or hunter and I never really learned how to play those or the decks and the last several decks that I thought was cool suuuuuuuuuuucked.

I usually only play the Tavern Brawl and this week it is All Medivh All The Time so I can’t clear out these dailies to get the gold and new dailes. In “Play” mode I’m getting my buttock cheeks kicked. I just want to get them over with so I can move on.

Thank you for any assistance. You are beautiful people who deserve nothing less than the love of everyone in your life and $10 million dollars.

So what do we think of Prince Malchezzar? It won’t be used in any serious decks, except mill/fatigue decks maybe where it might become a staple. But it seems fun. Using legendaries you usually don’t have access to adds a fun factor the game even if it screws with your deck composition.

Is the card going to be a staple of control decks that normally go to fatigue? I can see where control vs control might require both to have it.

I expect it to see a bit of play in 35 Legendary Reno joke decks, but since it can only add legendaries that weren’t good enough for you to put in deliberately, I don’t think it’s viable in serious control decks.

So I only play Hunter when I have the daily for it. This is the deck I use. Not necessarily the best deck but on the plus side, it’s either a quick (turn 6ish) win or a quick you-know-you’re-gonna-lose so you can concede quick too. Basic strategy - go face face face face face with just about everything (obviously make smart trades if it’s beneficial but mostly you’ll be going face).

I’ll give a it whirl tonight.

I dunno, I’ve been experimenting with putting him in my Control Warrior deck (I subbed out one of my 2x Doomsayers that I usually have for him). So far it’s going pretty well. You’d be surprised how many control matches end up going to fatigue even against decks that aren’t necessarily normally meant to go to fatigue. It’s heavy on the cycle too so just having extra cards is a big help in those matches. And the legendaries it puts in sometimes end up being quite helpful. Plus it’s a nice breath of fresh air to get some variety.

I’ll keep him in there for a while before I reach a serious verdict but for now he doesn’t look bad at all in traditional control.

ETA: also in long control matches I often end up having turns where I’m not really doing anything but holding cards and armoring up, so playing any random legendary that I wouldn’t have normally put in my deck can be a big help on those turns.

Oh also, earlier I had a game where I got a Barnes from my Malchezaar. I play Barnes, and he summons a mini-Y’Shaarj (that I didn’t know was in my deck of course, because it was also from Malchezaar). After I end my turn, mini Y’Shaarj summons full-size Y’Shaarj. That was pretty goddamn sweet.

Well thank you Deser2. I got the 2 dailies of “win 2 times with druid or hunter” and the other daily of “win 5 times with druid or hunter” done and over with. I didn’t have your entire deck list so I had to substitute a couple cards but over all it worked out pretty well. Now I can move on and hopefully some of the next dailies are for mage so I can get to Tavern Brawling.

That is sweet.

gI love those times when the light shines down from the heavens and gives you the awesome and you can just sit back and laugh at the poor bastard you’re fighting.

I am doing resurrect priest with Bog Creeper, Ysera and Deathwing, Dragon lord in it because I lack cairne, ysharj, and Sylvanas. It’s tough to succeed right now because of ladder reset, but I am enjoying it.

Yesterday I played against a control warrior using Malchezzar with my concede shaman. At one po I not he played an earth elemental that said it was created by Prince Malchezaar and I was confused for a really long time till I figured out it was actually Shifter Zerus.

Had a very silly match. Both of us were somewhere between tempo and casino yogg mages. I was down to 2 cards, him 3, both around 20 hp with clear boards. I deliberately kept coming up with ways to generate spells (nexus champion Saraad and such) just because I was curious how many spells I could cram into one Yogg. Answer to that was 22. Yogged came out fairly well for me - draw my last 2 cards and one fatigue, put a few minions on the board, healed me up some. With the few cards in my hand I was probably going to end up okay.

Then the next turn he played yogg and he had about 18 spells to cast on it. It wiped the board, generated another board (5 silver hand recruits), wiped the board again, generated a bunch of new tokens… then cast DOOM which destroyed all minions and drew that many cards. It was enough that he fatigued himself to death.

Saw a youtube of a match like that recently - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUzKLfsm13s

Yogg Druid and Midrange Hunter are both kinda insane right now. If you want a cheap Druid deck, check out Midrange C’Thun:

I run a similar list, but I drop both Mire Keepers and have Sylvanas and a second Druid of the Claw. It works reasonably well against all but the fastest starts.

Pulled the ultimate boneheaded move over the long weekend. I was going to lose the game no matter what, but I still kicked myself for making the mistake. I’ve been playing resurrect priest, it’s late in the game against a C’Thun Druid. I am pretty low on health and I know he has to have his C’Thun pretty soon, so I need to get some board presence. I play Brann Bronzebeard and Barnes, who created tiny copies of 2 minions (Bog Creeper and Wyld Pyro) and then, to add some more pressure to the board and absorb a little more damage, I dropped the Injured Blademaster.

Oops.

Upcoming changes to arena: Hearthside Chat: Upcoming Arena Changes with Dean Ayala - Hearthstone

Basically, they’re cutting some stronger cards from Mage (Faceless Summoner, Forgotten Torch, Snowchugger) and Rogue (Goblin Barber/Undercity Valiant) and a bunch of chaff/constructed-only cards from Warrior, Shaman, Warlock, Druid, Priest, and Hunter. Paladin remains unchanged.

Seems pretty reasonable to me - I’m not sure they even go far enough with Mage.

Yeah, that’s kinda cute and all, but Mage is still going to completely destroy every other class. Flamestrike is just so much better than almost any other class card in the game (let alone class common; Muster is maybe a little better, but you don’t see that many Paladin decks with 3 muster for battles), Mage just has a better all-around package than any other class in the game, and removing three cards (two of which weren’t even really all that problematic) probably isn’t going to fix the problem. Mage still has more spot removal, area removal, and tempo plays than any other class in the game. You want to fix the problem? Get rid of flamestrike, get rid of Blizzard, get rid of Firelands Portal. I still predict that we’re going to see mostly top tier mage decks in arena. You can’t really unfuck it without undoing Firelands Portal.

So I built my first warrior deck (my warrior has a total of 7 wins from brawls and such) - I had most of the essential cards for a C’thun warrior, just had to craft Twin Emporer, doomcallers, and a few warrior staples like shield slam and gorehowl.

So far it’s fun if a little bit boring compared to my crazy mage RNG decks and novelty reno decks and other stuff I’ve been goofing around with lately. The plays are very straightforward. Still, it’s fun being indestructable.

The good news: now that you have the essential cards for C’thun warrior, you have almost all the essential cards for the (much better) C’thun druid. :stuck_out_tongue:
