My local IMAX is showing the 3 hobbit movies now and next week they are going to show all 3 of the LOTR movies. I assume this is the same all over the US.
Going to see Return of the King on opening day is one of my top five favorite moviegoing experiences. Unfortunately, I don’t think seeing it again today would live up to it. Glad they’re getting big screen treatment, though. Well, LOTR, at least. Those Hobbit movies…yeesh.
I’ll have to look this up. I saw Return of the King in the Front Row, surrounded by a chattering crown, and carrying a newborn. It was not an optimal viewing experience.
Wow, mine is not showing those. And they show big movies all the time. I saw Mission Impossible 4 there and it was awesome.
I’m keeping my eye out, no interest in the Hobbit films again but tons of interests in LOTR, never got to see a single one in the cinema.
Here they are only showing LOTR this weekend so it’s very limited release

Sadly Chicago’s Navy Pier IMAX is not showing them. Instead, it’s got *Parasite *this week, and The Invisible Max next week.
Saw the 2 Towers. I forgot these movies are too long in my opinion. Also way too many closeups and that’s even worse in IMAX.
