I just wanted to say “I told you so” to any Canadians fan out there who thought they had a chance against the Caps on Friday. Although the Habs gave them a run for the money in the first period, by the second it was over. Bondra (2 goals), Jagr and Linden opened up a can of whoopass on the Canadians.
As for the Flyers game…well, I’m not sure what happened there. It was close for a while, but in the end I guess the Caps ran out of steam. I matters little in the scheme of things.
Luc scored the game winner against his former Kings! Score another notch in the win column.
Anyone else notice how the games televised schedule just sucks ass this year? I want to watch the Flames with Turek take on his former Blues tonight, but no one is showing it!
Tretiak…myfriend…lol…:D…I remember those games…4 of the worst games I ever saw…and I think the WINGS remebered them also…I had a great seat to see Robitaille tip in the winning goal…:D…
Pro’s and Con’s about those seats on the glass in the corners…When the puck is at the other end of the ice
you can’t see chit…:(…BUT when it’s at your end you
feel like your in the game……
I’ll say one thing…the WINGS must have the biggest defensive team in NHL history with Jiri Fischier 6-5 210lbs
and Uwi Krupp 6-6 230lbs…not to mention Maxim Kuzwetsov
6-5 200lbs…lol…Chelious is one of the small ones at
6-1 190lbs
I’m worried some of the smaller faster forwards will get
around them…but with those long ass sequoia sticks they have they will have to go way outside and end up in the corner…and after a few times in the corners with those big boys…they won’t be so fast anymore…:D…
GOD I LOVE HOCKEY…anyway sorry about your KINGS…:(…
We all love hockey King, that’s why we’re here isn’t it.
You know what I’d love? Edmonton plays the Dreaded Wings tomorrow and it would be a great birthday present if the Oilers stomped the crap out of them.
It’s a long shot but then again, when you look at the Oilers record against the top teams in the league they tend to do very well. Nashville beat them yesterday and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that the Oilers don’t take some teams seriously enough.
Tonorrow should be one hell of a romp anyways,
Tretiak You would have loved this and if you can get CBC perhaps you caught it. Last Saturday after the regularly scheduled games the good old CBC showed another classic game, Montreal vs Russia (1976) and who was playing net? None other than the legendary Vladislav Tretiak.
It was also amazing to watch the Habs play, LaFleur, Gainey, Robinson, Shutt, Serge Savard, LeMaire, Tremblay, Cournoyer, the Mahovolich’s, etc. and of course in net was Ken Dryden. That was an amazingly talented team and a veritable who’s who of hockey. These are guys who went on to win the Grail in 76, 77, 78, and 79.
Yeah. He was very calm and in control when he was beating his wife up.
I fuqing hate Patrick Roy.
Being from Detroit, I’m going for the Wings. I’d really like to see Hasek and Chellios get a ring.
As far as Bret Hull is concerned. He has a ring, but he knows it’s tainted. So I’m sure he’s motivated to get a legit championship behind him before he retires.
And Chicago must have done this one for the jarbaby… they beat the Flames 6-3.
Now I can look forward to tomorrow, Detroit - Edmonton… here… my fondest wish would be to have tickets to this game, it’s going to be a good one although I don’t think either team is going to get their asses kicked as badly as some of the teams tonight.
Hmmm, it looks like Potvin held his own last night. Well, I never said that he wouldn’t have good nights. Oh, I might also add that I was very impressed by the King’s powerplay, 4 for 4 in that 7-1 drubbing of the Blue Jackets.
Also on the Caps 1-1 tie to the Lightning, the most entertaining part of that game was the 5 minute overtime period. No matter which side you were rooting for, that was an awesome extra period! Too bad the Caps couldn’t jab it into the net, but I was happy with that final effort.
Prediction for tonights game vs Flordia, Caps winning big time. But that’s like predicting the earth will circle the sun…
To be fair. He didn’t actually hit her. But he DID rip two doors off of their frames trying to get to her. So, I guess we won’t know if he was just trying to give her a hug or what while screaming at the top of his lungs and ripping doors down and her running away for her life.
But, he didn’t hit her and she did confirm that. Patrick Roy: A real HERO!
Go Hawks. I used to hate the hawks (being from Detroit) but since they aren’t a contender it’s really nice to cheer for them as they suprise these other teams. It would be very good for hockey if the Hawks and Detroit had a real rivalry again. The ‘rivalry’ with Colorado will dissappear as soon as they have a loosing season or two. Hell, they’ll probalby loose the avs after a loosing season or two. Denver has real fair-weather fans when it comes to hockey.
Well I have never cared for Roy either, seeing him aas an egomaniac (which is one of the reasons he is so successful, admittedly). I thought the way he whined and cried his way out of Montreal was bush. And then there was the time he had a locker room tirade after his team won. Seems he was temporarily pulled during a crucial powerplay to give the Avs power play some time to rest. A common coaching move. The Avs scored and won the game. But Roy was displeased he didn’t get the win and took it out on the locker room TV and VCR. Very grown-up of Mr. Roy.
The allegation with his wife was that he was being violent, she hid in a closet and he ripped the doors off. She was very scared and called the police, but there was never any allegation that he touched her.
Kings loooked very good, especially the top line of Palffy, Stunpel and Deadmarsh. They are probably better than their record, having lost all their games by one goal, but they have not been able to capitalize on their chances. Rumors are that the Kings are making a run for Jason Allison.
I just wanted to say, being from Detroit, that I miss Chris Osgood.
Don’t get me wrong, between Hasek and Osgood, I’d choose Hasek. However, Osgood deserved better. And I can’t believe that we had to release him on waiver because we couldn’t even trade for him. How sad is that? Osgood is WAY under-rated and now that’s he’s on the Islanders, he’s getting some props.
Osgood is a GREAT goal-tender. Even last year, I’d rank him in the top 10 if not the top 5 in the league. Also, if anyone cares to check, his stats are on a GREAT pace for his age. He is racking up more wins than Roy did at his age. He’s hit milestones faster than some of the legends in the game. And he’s STILL YOUNG people.
You spoke much too soon. Final score was 4-1 Detroit. I gotta give the Oilers credit though for playing a good game last night. But Hasek has been on a roll this year so far and stopped a lot of really close shots.
I personally believe that Detroit did itself a big favor by dumping that whiny-baby Chris Osgood for Dominic Hasek. Osgood had been bitching for years about how unhappy he was in Detroit, then had the nerve to act surprised when they brought Hasek on to the team.
IMHO, the person on the team who should be the most pissed off is Manny Legace. He didn’t get to play as much as he would have liked to last year, but he is actually a very good goalie. The Red Wings led him to believe all last year that Osgood was leaving soon and that he would get the primary goalie spot. Then they brought in Hasek. From what I’ve heard, Legace is not too happy with that decision.
Shadowfox- This was the first time I saw Detroit play this year and I have but one thing to say…
HOLY FUCK THEY’RE GOOD
Still, the Oil played really well after that first period nap they took but Hasek was simply stellar in goal. With him backing up the Wings it gives them a lot of room to play.
