Suppose the Jews concocted the whole thing to extort money in reparations out of Germany. Do you realize how much money this would have to be in order to pay off every single person involved? The amount of money would be greater than the gross national product of Europe — you’d have tens of thousands of soldiers, hundreds of thousands of homosexuals, Roma, POWs, and ordinary citizens — German citizens! the very people paying the reparations are somehow profiting from it? logic error in line 20 — that there wouldn’t be any money left over for the Jews to cackle over.

Even if I believed this, and I think it’s obvious I don’t, this is just handwaving. In passing, the article says that a large typhus epidemic went through Bergen-Belsen in 1945. No great surprise there, and not any kind of proof that nobody died from poisoning or any other cause. Even if more people were killed by typhus and being worked to death than gassing, what would that prove? It doesn’t change the fact that the Nazis were enslaving people and killing them on an enormous scale
The Nazis rounded up the Jews and coralled them in concentration camps. These concentration camps were so cramped and filthy, and the people in them so weak and malnourished, that a known, preventable and curable disease was able to kill 35,000 people in a matter of weeks and you think this gets the Nazis off the hook?
What your cite describes is not a rotten bit of luck. It’s not a tragic but unforeseeable accident or cruel twist of fate. It’s genocide. What on earth makes you think it qualifies as anything else?

They were placed in concentration camps as part of the Nazi program to transfer all Jews out of Europe. There is no question about this, and it is fully documented with Nazi documents. It is also well known to the keepers of the Bad Arolsen archives. SIXTY MILLION NAZI DOCUMENTS that have been kept secret to this day.
Regarding conditioning, I was not insulting your intelligence, I was conditioned, we all have been conditioned by the relentless propaganda the pervades the US media regarding the holocaust. I came to this group after googling Billy Wilder holocaust. See the thread of comments on Cecil’s columns regarding the Buchenwald lampshades. Wilder went to Buchenwald immediately after the camp was taken to create a movie full of the most absurd lies about the Nazis, human skin lampshades, soap made from fat, shrunken heads. This movie was shown extensively in the US and in Nuremberg trials. The propaganda has been ongoing since that time.
You may be right about that, I think that was the original Final Solution. But there certainly was never a big shipment of hundreds of thousands of Jews to Asia or Africa or South America, so where did these people go, and why didn’t they get to where the Nazis wanted to send them?

The Nazis did everything in their power to prevent the catastrophe at Belsen.
BTW, the case is eerily similar to the case of Andersonville at the end of the US Civil war. The commandant was tried at a hoax trial and convicted of killing prisoners, and executed. Wirz was his name. He was 100% innocent. As was Kramer.
So, the Nazis were engaged in forced deportation, not extermination, right? So those 6 or so million people who they deported – where did they go? What country/countries outside Europe saw their Jewish population increase by enough to account for this during the years before 1945? And, how did the Nazis accomplish the deportation? Ships, trains, what? Are there records of the many hundreds of ship or train voyages that would have been required to move that many people out of Europe?
So what happened? Why were these people never transfered out of Europe? Where did they go? Madagascar? Well, when we look around Madagascar today we don’t find any of these Jews.
The Nazis might have talked about expelling the Jews of Europe, but they never actually did so. They did round up all the Jews. The Jews that ended up in concentration camps never left.
So where did they go?
Answer: they all died. Some died from typhus, some died from tuberculosis, some died from getting a bullet in the back of the head, some died from starvation, some died from hypothermia, some died from beatings, some died from poison gas. But they all died. If they didn’t die, where’d they go?

OK, if you don’t have access to the records of the ship/train/whatever voyages, you should be able to find plenty of demographic data for the countries surrounding Nazi-occupied Europe. You should be able to infer from that what countries experienced a rise in Jewish population 1933-1945. Add them all up and let us know if it totals 6 million. Excel can help with the arithmetic.
To add to Bayard’s question, if the object were deportation, why were the concentration camps so far away from airports and coastal cities? You think they were gonna fax the Jews out of Europe?
