If there’s one place that can help me, it’s probably here …
The Hoobs is a TV show aimed at 3 to 5 year olds, but occasionally watched by 43 year old insomniac computer programmers such as myself. I don’t think I can satisfactorily explain it to anyone who hasn’t seen it … the Hoobs themselves are colourful sub-Muppet creatures who are visiting Earth to learn about its inhabitants and their customs.
The Hoobs live in the colourful Hoobmobile, whose engine is powered by the songs of three musical piston-shaped creatures called Motorettes. These Motorettes are called Tootle, Timp, and Twang. So far, no mystery.
However. One of the Hoobs, Roma, takes a more “roving reporter” approach to the whole information-gathering thing, and is usually to be seen travelling the globe on her own, aboard a sort of motorized tricycle thing which is technically called a Hooby-picky-picky. And this vehicle, being motorized, has a single Motorette powering it. It’s clearly not one of the three from the Hoobmobile; it has a sort of cog-shaped thing on its head (whereas Tootle, Timp and Twang have a horn, a cymbal, and a spring, respectively.) And I’ve checked out the official Hoob website, and other sources like Wikipedia, but I haven’t found any reference to this creature …
So, I appeal to the inquiring minds of Cafe Society: who is the mysterious Fourth Motorette? If I don’t find the answer, I warn you, I may never smile again.
