I don’t watch football and even I know the Pats have a Goliath-like reputation.
And I’m always surprised when I see people acting like “defending champions” have some sort of edge over other teams. I heard a broadcaster say it about Kansas City (MLB) the other day. “Well, they are the defending champions, so you can’t count them out!” I bet I can!
But shouldn’t they have a edge if the broncos has the same record as the pats and haven;t lost a game since 2015?
I haven’t paid any attention to football yet this season, but aren’t the Pats 3-0 using a backup quarterback? And haven’t the Pats been a threat to dominate the league for several years, now?

I’ll ask in a different way. How do you objectively determine the ‘favorite’ in an NFL game? Do you do it differently from seemingly everyone else who apparently uses the numbers from the oddsmakers?
