Anybody else watch this yet? It’s labeled as a “Dark Comedy” but really, it’s more dark than anything else. The first act of three was probably my favorite.
I was sufficiently creeped out by the trailer to be wary of it. But I may still consider it.
If you decide to watch it, keep in mind the first act is the creepiest. The next two acts take a lighter tone.
I tried it last night and the animation was far too off-putting.
It’s worth watching for an appreciation of the animation alone. IMHO.
I wonder though if its creepiness is partly rooted in our specific pandemic and housing market time, with so many of us more in our houses more, and maybe fewer of us spending the energy developing and maintaining our real world interpersonal connections?
It seems to me like that, and being cautionary meditations against the dream of the thing, are the thematic threads of the stories. And that potentially resonates a bit more right now with more of us than it might in other times.
I don’t know whether or not I enjoyed it though.
I saw it advertised on Netflix but was undecided on whether it was something I wanted to watch. I think this post has nudged me into the “watch” category.
Late to the game but just watched this the other night. Ew! Unappealing and nightmarish, yet I felt compelled to finish. It did cause me to think about the meaning of each act, like capitalism and greed with the first two and possibly a nod to global warming in act 3.
ETA: And the fire in the fireplace looked like it was made of fuzz.
