I think that accurately describes most kids’ parties.
Second load of towels in the washer, first load in the dryer, two afghans packed and ready to be mailed. Supper will be N.O.T. soup - when we went to breakfast, I ran by Food Lion for some chicken broth for the soup. Go me!
Apart from laundry, this is a day of sloth. Sloth on, my friends!!
Mooooom, how do you make your tater soup? My (PA Dutch) grandmother used to make it with rivels (quick spaetzle kind of things),
baker, there’s a card currently somewhere between Tennessee and Long Island that will get there too late, so don’t be too hard on yourself.
Up and caffeinating and trying to get up the ambition to do the breakfast dishes. I got the Xmas stockings filled to take north with me last night, as well as wrapped the “gift” for the Dirty Santa at a party in a couple of weeks last night. There isn’t much on the schedule today except for choir practice at 6:30. I think it will be a studio day.
**red **- it’s a tweaked recipe from the Better Homes & Gardens cookbook. Thought I’d put it in the Mumper cookbook, but apparently not.
Start with a couple of cups of chicken broth. Peel and cube 6-8 potatoes, depending on size. Also chop up one onion and one carrot (optional - the carrot is one of my tweaks.) The recipe also calls for dill, but I don’t use it - your call. Cook it all till the potatoes are done.
Next, empty the soup pot into a big bowl and go at it with a potato masher. I like to leave a bunch of unmashed chunks, and some folks like to process it all in a food processor - as you prefer. Meanwhile, I shake up 2 cups of milk with 2-3 Tablespoons of flour, plus salt and pepper. Melt 2-3 tablespoons of butter in the soup pot, then add milk/flour mixture and cook till it thickens. Add the mashed potato mixture, mix well, heat thru, and serve.
I like to mix swiss cheese into my serving, spousal unit like a glop of sour cream. Whatever works.
I’m feeling some guilts as well. I can’t remember if I ever got to meet her irl or not ---- I can’t remember who all made it to the Norinew gathering. I know FCM but all the other faces and names blended together over the years. And its just cold and dreary and I’m just feeling sad in general.
Howdy Y’all! Home from deheathenization and brunch. Most of the ham got et but there is enough to make some ham ‘n N.O.T. soup tomorrow, so there’s that. It’s supposed to be stormy tomorrow (we shall see) so I’m thinkin’ ham ‘n N.O.T. soup and cornbread would make a good dindin. The rest of today is for chillin’, startin’ with nappage in just a bit.
**rosie **was not at that gathering. I brought **GT **and **Polycarp **(RIP) was there also. I never met her, nor did I ever speak with her on the phone, altho she was thinking, briefly, of coming to a party at my place. Her mobility scooter was the problem - there are a minimum of 2 steps into our house.
Laundry is almost done - the last load is in the dryer. Apart from dealing with that, I’ve been in major league chillage mode.
I’ve added both swampy’s Cherry Delight and FCM’s potato soup to the blog.
My huge project that was sucking up extra time and energy is all implemented, so I should have time to stop by here more often and also to keep up the blog. Still, I’d like to make sure someone besides me can update the blog. I think you just need an email account. PM me if you want to help update the blog.
Also, if you’ve shared a recipe that isn’t on the blog, PM me the information (recipe, link to post, link to recipe elsewhere).
Home from Geology test. It took him all of three minutes and he got 100%. The professor gives them a study guide which is a copy of the test - very easy.
We dropped the mis-delivered package off on the way out.
He got TacoHell for lunch/dinner. I got Sonic and since I have been craving brownies and ice cream, I got a fudge brownie molten sundae and he got a banana split molten sundae. It was good, but way way too much and way way too rich. Now I feel ick.
I don’t know why I’ve been craving ice cream, I really don’t like it. Then again every now and then I get a craving for sour kraut and I don’t like that either.
Back from the grocery sto’. Does anyone make ‘regular’ rolls of TP anymore?
Double rolls, triple rolls, quadruple rolls, one package is printed, “6 rolls = 447 regular rolls.”
Swampy probably knows (not just if, but what brands & where they’re sold.)
You should make my family’s recipe for homemade icecream. It’s the best, and the easiest, as you don’t have to warm a custard, just mix the ingredients and freeze in a small electric freezer.
Well, we took off, started West, and turned around. Equipment failure over the Pacific. We’re back in Portland waiting for repaired and/or new aircraft. At least another hour. My husband leaned over the third time the captain said, “there is absolutely nothing to worry about” and asked me if it was OK to start panicking. (He was joking.). I said I think we had to wait for the 4th "nothing to worry about " to know it was serious.
We’re getting vouchers for future travel and meals and waiting around. I figured we weren’t going to get much done today anyway. I’d rather get there than that not! My husband found a local distillery shop, so he’s off browsing, whilst I surf with the kiddos.
Oh, Sunny, what a bummer!! I hope you’re note going to be delayed too long!
On the home front, N.O.T. soup is yum. I had mine with provolone instead of swiss because I didn’t feel like opening the package of swiss. Laziness is still delicious!
Howdy Y’all! It has been an afternoon into evenin’ sloth kind of day at da cave. I did, however, manage to take the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Still no rain yet but the weather map shows it off to the west of us so I guess it’ll show up. Eventually.
Sunny I hope you’re on your way to Hawai’i and not readin’ this.
The knee I fell on yesterday has been getting better, if I sit for to long in one position it stiffens up and is painful, but less and less as the day goes on.
I’m going to have to call the Appliance store, my hot water heater keeps misbehaving. Today the pilot was out at 10 am, I restarted it and it was working fine at 5pm, came home from dinner an hour ago and surprise…no pilot light. It’s a relatively new heater, about 4-5 years old, and hasn’t been a bit of trouble until recently. Need an appliance whisperer, or Sherlock Heater…
[del]The sky is fallin’![/del] It’s rainin’. Heh, just as I typed “rainin’” it stopped. Still more to come. All kinds of green, red and orange stuff to the west of us accordin’ to the radar.
Thus, I shall join OYKW in the boudoir. Hope it rains all night. Da bear can sleep good when it’s rainin’.
