Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.
Go get 'em. Butters!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.
Go get 'em. Butters!
Yesterday I got my grades for this first semester of Graphic Design classes.
6 x High Distinction
2 x Distinction
2 x Credit
Pretty much as I expected. Very happy.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 79 and rain allegedly for the day. I say allegedly because I will believe it when I see the rain. Looks like it may have rained a little bit overnight but not much. Today I shall work on spiffin’ da cave. Really dustin’ and vacuumin’ will take care of things pretty much. The other item on today’s agenda is the makeage of an enchilada casserole. I foresee a large swath of sloth which is fine by me. OYKW may be in some rain on his way back. He’s plannin’ on leavin’ eightish Alabammy time this mornin’ and hopefully will be here mid afternoon.
Butters sic 'em! Sic 'em like a rabid chee-hoo-ah-hoo-ah!
BatKid good for you for the grades!
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then cave spiffin’ shall (maybe) commence. I suppose I should also purtify at some point.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
We are finally getting rain! Not a huge downpour… yet… but enough that I had to turn on my wipers. It’s supposed to continue thru tomorrow, I think. I hope.
Another bad night last night. I woke around 1:30 and never really got back to sleep. Gonna be a long day. But I did figure out how to sync my new phone with the car - I’ll need to make a call to see how the bluetooth works. Creeping toward the 21st century, despite having a mere flip phone.
Happy Tuesday!!
(((((rosie))))) - hope you feel better soon.
Batboy, conga-rats on the grades, sounds like you are flying there!
Butters, do you need bail money or an alibi yet?
I am at irk and irked with it. Our sainted computer system refuses to let me into various folders that I need, and when it does let me into things, it refuses to let me have anything apart from 2015-16 academic year when it knows fine well that we’re in 2016-17 now. Am I caught in a time warp or something?
I have to finish my food diary to take to the gym tonight so my personal trainer can tell me what I shouldn’t be doing I may have to forego telling her we have cocktail night planned for Saturday…
Mum had a very enjoyable birthday and was most amused to have buffday wishes from a bunch of strangers! She had some nice pressies, and went out for lunch with her friends so it was a good day for her. She said she will consider surviving another year so she can do it all again when she gets to be 83.
Those are what I call “punts”…after the motion one uses to get rid of 'em. May I suggest a rabid {something larger}.
Hooray, it’s [del]Clog up the inbox[/del] Giving Tuesday. I’ve already gotten a handful from out-of-state charities that have sponsored races that I’ve done in the past (at least two years ago). Worthwhile - yes, but the only reason I’m on your mailing list is because of the race; in one case, they no longer even do the race. Shouldn’t I give to your counterpart in my community?
{{{Rosie}}} Feel better!
Batboy, I don’t remember what good grades feel like, but I bet it’s exciting. Congrats!
Butters, you give HR what-for. I have done enough unpaid shuttling of drunkards in my life - you shouldn’t do it, too.
Last night I stayed up until almost ten o’clock. It was like a party, only I was lying prone on the couch watching tv instead of in my bed watching tv.
Batboy, I’m old-fashioned so I don’t understand anything but “A”, “B” “C” et. al., but High Distinction sounds damn impressive. My congrats.
FCM, you’re probably getting the rain I had last night in North Ali-bama, they are promising another bunch of rain 2day evening, so Hump Day may be damp up there too.
Butters, Go get 'em! We had to log in and concur with our hours, then after we had done so the branch supervisor had to log in and approve them. And if I didn’t forget to do so, he was off and didn’t get one of the other bosses to approve his branch. Never missed a paycheck but it did get exciting at times…
Up at 0630 again. Need to check out some airline sites for cheap tickets, those 400+ mile drives are wearing on me. Expedia was $450 r/t, and for that I can do a 2-day drive and pay less than half that for hotels.
Mopping the kitchen is on the schedule; but I reserve the right to ignore it completely…
I don’t think many people do, as it seems to be something recently adopted and peculiar to technical colleges. Anyway, High Distinction is top, then it goes Distinction, Credit, Competent, Not Yet Competent, and Did Not Submit. It’s all very PC, non-insulting language. I also prefer straightforward letter grades.
Shrug, letter grades mean less to me the more I understand them, so…
Next week we’re off on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Our coworkers abroad are still trying to get over the shock of not being able to have calls on those days, but hey, it could be worse: the 5th is an “extra” the client has set up, the 6th and 8th are national holidays, but Back Home the 3rd and today would also be holidays.
Happy Tuesday!
It’s raining.
I sure missed a lot of what was going on yesterday.
Sah-son used my computer for some Google Earth project - took him 7 hours to complete what he thought was going to be a simple homework assignment.
Welcome back **MetalMouse **
Congrats BatBoy
{{{Rosie}}}
Butters - I’d tell them I’m not coming in until I get paid because I don’t work for free.
Congrats on good teeth FCM.
Once I had to take Sah-son to the doc to update his vaccinations. All three doctors in the office were out, one on maternity leave, one on bereavement leave (her husband died) and one had quit. Of course they couldn’t tell me this when I made the appointment. I ended up having to go to the free clinic to get his shots. That was an experience. The most annoying part was that people were lined up outside waiting to get in to standing room only and you’d find out there were 4-5 adults there with one kid who was getting vaccinated.
Anyway, it was my observation that 75% of the people in the clinic didn’t need to be there, all they were doing was taking up space and making it more crowded than it needed to be.
{{{Flipper sister}}}
Yep Sunny, focus on what is good. Sah-son was dyslexic and those meeting made me crazy, but he got the help he needed. He didn’t see letters backwards though, whenhetriedtoreadthisiswhathesaw,hecouldreadonewordatatimebutoncetheywereputogetherintosentencestheyallrantogetherintoonebigword.Itwasveryfrustratingforhimandhethoughthewasstupidbecausetheotherkidscouldreadandhecouldn’t.
The help he got did wonders for his self esteem because it taught him that he wasn’t stupid, he just processes information a different way.
Time to get busy, so much to do today.
I finally got the health insurance done. I had to call them (such joy and happiness there) but I wasn’t on hold for too long, I actually got somebody nice, who knew what she was doing and got it fixed for me. For whatever reason the site wouldn’t let me change the policy to one I could afford, she got the change to go through. Took her a while, but she got it to work. The MD Exchange system is the biggest piece of shit website I’ve ever had to deal with. Maybe it they weren’t so concerned with the stupid little graphics and videos and actually concentrated on something that works?
Batboy congrats on the high marks!
Yay for rain. Drought sucketh.
I taught at UC Santa Cruz while getting my Masters degree there. [del]ugh[/del] They didn’t use letter grades. They didn’t use code words either. Everyone got a written evaluation for each course. I was a TA, but guess who did all the grades for each course? (I wrote an algorithm that assembled the draft from my database on the students, then edited it. I digress.) Anyhoo. It was all meant to teach the kids to value work above the “grade” and to learn from the evaluation. Of course, no other school in the country works that way, so it created all kinds of problems.
I feel asleep about 4:40 last night and got up at 6:15. As soon as I get 'Beamette to school, I’m going back to bed. I feel guilty, because there are things to do. But I must.
Also, I will now hint strongly that tomorrow is my birthday. Just in case anyone wants to practice. My hubby is out of town and no one else will remember.
Blurf.
My orthopedist appointment went very well. I got to see the two-inch screw going through the heel bone on the x-rays, which looks bitchin’. He’s impressed with how well I’m doing; the strength and range of motion are good, and the only issue is that my calf muscle is weakened because I haven’t really used it in almost two months. I don’t have to have PT, and walking, which I do anyway, is enough to improve the muscle strength. So I’m back in a brace until the new year, then I’m free! FREE!
Or order several bottles of Liquid Ass from Da Jungle and have a stink-off?
Speaking of which, am dressed and ready for work. Other than that same old same old.
I have pneumonia
Did you contract it at the hospital?
Dang, {{{rosie}}} - Knock it off, dammit! You’re an adult - if you want to lounge around doing nothing, you don’t have to get sick to do it.
The preceding smart-assery is a feeble attempt at funny. Hope you get over this health hump soonest!
Busy morning here, which is great. Lunch is just about over, so I’ll be diving back in. All in all, a pretty good day.
Oh noes! I had it a couple weeks ago, myself. Hope you feel better soonest!
Da cave is spiffed. I even cleaned the counters in the kitchen. Go Me! Enchiladas are made up and ready to go in the oven when it’s time. Still no rain but it is all cloudy out so maybe there’s hope. I will believe it when I go outside and get wet however. TWPTB do not have the most excellent of track records as of late. :dubious:
butters, I hope that the bastiges pay you soonest.
WTG batboy!
spidey, should you take a notion to kick a chi-hoo-ah-hoo-ah, be prepared to have butters, me or any one of a number of other mumpers kick your tail.
metal mouse, it’s mop day at ChezRed too.
Day-um, rosie! You can’t catch a break.
Today is slow enough that I’ve cruised the antique section of CL, read all of the news that’s fit to read (and then some, ordered a couple of things from the Jungle (not your area, ruble ) and am waiting for the fecal matter to be propelled into the ventilating device this afternoon, if I don’t miss my guess (EOM is like that sometimes).
I’ve gotten several Giving Tuesday emails (I’m on the Help Often committee for my heathen group, so I am On The List). I gave to some and kept some others in mind for future projects.
